2021-07-10: Reds (Gutiérrez) at Brewers (Peralta) [Brewers lose, 4-3 -- Ump Show Strikes Again]

The umpiring has been bad, but the offense is what's costing tbe Brewers. One run in 16 (going on 17) innings vs. this lineup won't cut.

Still, I'd rather be the Brewers than the Reds. Minimum of a 4 game lead at the break, with Wong hopefully healthy.

I am so sick of umpires throwing people out of games for stupid crap. So often they screw up, someone gets mad, that someone gets tossed. These umps are pathetic, all 4 should be demoted to high school level at best and mlb needs to crack down on umps being such babies...

Well said.

FWIW, both Uecker and Levering said the Yelich play was a bad call, and pretty convincingly. Haudricourt tweeted it was a bad call and called the umpiring this series a crapshow. These are guys that are paid to be objective.

I'm totally in agreement that the Yelich call was trash. Strictly have been referring to today's zone, which some folks have liked to embellish to imply that I've been saying the umpiring in the series has been fine.

This is the way I see it as far as balls and strikes. I agree with you that the pitch was borderline and could've gone either way. This umps strike zone has been far better than the previous two nights, but it does get frustrating when about 90% of the wrong calls go against you and emotions start to run high. Then tack on the Yelich play and it gets to Mount Vesuvius levels. There was obviously no intention on the part of Yelich to try for second and that should be taken into consideration when making a call.

It’s always going to be a white knuckle game with an opposing team that’s decent when the Brewers regularly feature two hitters with sub .200 batting averages and have a score of semi-regulars below the Mendoza line as well.

Urias struck out on that walk. Oddly silent. ;)

These umps have clearly been terrible the last few nights on both sides. Its just frustrating that they may have cost us the game with the missed call before the home run.

Umpire has been pretty bad since the time I said he's been pretty good today, naturally.

Yes!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

All I'd do is post about horrible calls if I commented on horrible calls but it didn't go unnoticed. I agree, the umps have been horrible.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Let's add on here. Have a big inning!

I think two runs actually counts as a big inning for the Brewers offense.
