This team is feeling more and more like the Oakland teams of the last 10 years or so who always finished with a good record but were no threat come playoff time. I guess thats what we get in a sport where we have to compete with teams that have twice the payroll.

The thought that this team as it stands today is any sort of threat to win the world series is laughable.

Yep.  Once this team gets out of its funk, its ceiling is still just making the postseason unless things really, really, really go their way (and you know how often that's happened in franchise history).

I'm certain that everyone on this board knows your opinion at this time.

They can absolutely win the WS. A baseball team is never as bad as it looks at its low and never as good as it looks at its high.

They aren't even a playoff team if they played in a decent division.

With someone else running, that Rowdy double might have been a triple.

If we could spend another 100-150 million on the roster like the Dodgers do, we could be pretty doggone good!

Thanks, MLB, for the inequity!

That lockout accomplished absolutely nothing.

Yet they’re essentially tied for fourth in the NL with a 10-12 record against teams over .500 and are tied with the Braves and Giants in that regard.

McCutchen can go away anytime now.

He was moved from 4th to 5th in order against righties.  Im shocked that it hasnt fixed everything.

Yeah, because the inequity fixes need to comes from owners and it was OWNERS that locked out players.

No one should be the least bit surprised the owners did not fix the problem only they can fix after they locked players out of baseball.

The sport needs a salary cap.

If not for the miracle comeback against the Padres the Brewers would be staring down a 9 game losing streak if they don’t come back today……

There is an issue when the Brewers have to go above budget to sign a washed up McCutchen when they obviously needed a big time hitter.

The sport needs revenue sharing and a floor. They already have a cap in practice and all it has led to is 90% of owners refusing to go over it.

You can't have a floor without a cap and I'm fine with both.

There is no cap when a few teams have two to three times the payroll of others.

Salary cap has mitigated or fixed tbe inequities in the other pro sports so,to say only the owners are responsible is just not true.

Certainly other solutions could also help but this is far from a one side is at fault issue,
