This is a really good trade especially with only giving up Mark Mathias.  Ok not as great of a trade with Kelly also going to the Rangers.

Bit steeper if Kelly is included, but I trust the front office's ability to evaluate relievers. Looks like Bush has been great this year and he's not a free agent for another couple seasons.

Bush is 36 years old, and arb eligible. Kelly is a guy many thought could be in the majors in 2-3 years.

36.2 IP, 11.1 K/9, 2.5 BB/9, 2.95 ERA, 3.42 FIP. Seems pretty good to me? Not sure how we're supposed to upgrade the team to make a playoff run without giving up any prospects.

I’m looking forward to hearing more about Bush’s story.  He’s 5 foot 9, was a number 1 overall pick, started his minor league career with 800 at bats before being converted to a pitcher, and played 12 years in the minors before making it to the majors.  He’s 36 and has 2.5 years of control left!

You have a problem with good relievers? And Kelly may turn out to be something, but he's still pretty far away from the majors and is probably ticketed for the bullpen anyways.

Kelly was rule 5 eligible this winter and unlikely to be added to the 40 man to protect him. I have zero issues giving away that type of prospect for a good reliever with multiple years of control

A 36 year old reliever with a spotty track record should not cost Antoine Kelly. Kelly's control is volatile but he's got high leverage reliever ability down the line if starting doesn't work. Not the type of flier you give up for a Matt Bush.

Brew must be projecting Kelly not to get to the majors, otherwise this is way too much to give for a 36 year old.

Ngl, giving up Antonie Kelly in this deal is disappointing.

Kelly is a steep price but Bush is pretty good. This team needs more good arms in the pen to cover the 6th and 7th innings. I am not a fan of Gott and Hoby. You got to give to get.
