We need good Freddy today.  Stroman has already 2-hit the Brewers twice this year (5IP, 7IP) and another performance like that will make for a very tense day for sure.

Win or lose … this season is bordering on being a disaster

If we indeed miss the postseason, it will be because we played poorly against these Cubs, the Reds, & the Pirates … no excuses

All of these teams are dreadful - especially after trading away some of their best players

Milwaukee has severely underperformed based on preseason expectations from Brewers fans

It would be terribly disappointing to miss the postseason for a record fifth consecutive year

Regardless of who is pitching - we “must” win series against these dregs

Am I wrong?  In the previous 4 years haven't we made it to at least the 1st or 2nd playoff games, and maybe the NLCS game 1 of those years?

I think his point is that the Brewers have been in the playoffs the last 4 years and came into the season with high expectations for making it 5 in a row.

It would be disappointing if they miss out on a golden opportunity to make it 5 playoff appearances in a row, in large part because of underperforming against the worst teams in the league.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I think he meant missing the playoffs and not making it for a record 5th consecutive time.

Looking at the radar I think they will be able to get the game in today, though there might be a delay at some point.

Hope so. It'd be a real bummer having to try to play a double header tomorrow and then have to play the Dodgers on Monday.

I hope the team's attitude is much better than that of many posters (and MINE).

It should be... We win today. And if it's a rain out, we sweep tomorrow.  Then we go west to kick some arrogant LA booty. It's baseball; let's play!

Lucky to squeeze a run out of what started as a promising inning. Cubs flubbed what should have been an easy DP.

I’m not sure what you are asking

Nothing I wrote was referring to previous Brewers teams - only my disappointment with this year’s team

Any starting pitcher with a pulse can shut this offense down.

While they have scratched out a few runs over the last couple of weeks the batting average has to be just brutal.

It was the statement that it would be terribly disappointing to miss the playoffs for a record fifth straight year.

Taken literally and out of context it could have sounded like it would be disappointing to miss the playoffs for 5 years in a row,

I can’t watch or listen to another Brewer game anymore. Just a dreadful offense, trade Burnes, Woodruff and Yelich (lol, that’s a pipe dream, no one would want him!) and rebuild! Go Pack!

heck just bring up the whole AAA lineup at this point.  I guess there’s no point in mentioning hiura is not starting at DH…. Did he insult CC’s kids? Mother? His dogs?

Not just the batting average but the low number of baserunners and runners in scoring position.

I quickly counted 66 hits in the last 11 games. No wonder the majority of their runs have to come on HRs.

Assuming that I did the Baseball Reference summing correctly for August, when the post trade deadline slide started, the team has a 6-10 record with the following stats:

BA - .206

OBP - .295

SLG - .377

Runs/Game average - 3.8

Even worse, the pitching has given up 4.2 runs/game in that same period, though only 3.8 earned runs/game. Four of the losses were by 1-run. So both the bats and gloves have been letting the team down.

Hiura seems to have been hitting that low strike lately, moreso than high strikes of course.

And I don’t see them pulling Stroman to bring in a lefty if Hiura pinch hits, similar to what the Dodgers recently did, given Stroman’s low pitch count. One could justify having him hit for Urias here, but of course we’ll just do nothing.
