On the one hand, I want the Rays to lose today so the Brewers keep the record. On the other hand, it's really cool. I hope Rays fans are soaking it all in and going to the games. I was at the Easter Sunday game and it's still my favorite in-person sports memory, so I hope Rays fans are experiencing the joy we felt back then.

Crowd looked decent (for the Trop) on the highlights I saw.

Checked their attendance and it was 21K last night vs 25K (which is a sellout for the Trop) on opening day and as low as 11K earlier in the week on Sunday.

Outside of four Yankees games and Opening Day, the Rays only had two home games over 21K in 2022, so I guess that’s a pretty strong turnout for them.

Honestly, I was unaware that the Brewers streak in '87 was a record so I'm ok with the Rays breaking it. Kinda like Molitor's hit streak, it wasn't a record but it's still remembered fondly. '87's streak(s) will still be special to Brewers fans for quite a while yet.

Heck, let them go to 18 or more, that will eclipse the most recent long win streak by the Cardinals (17) in 2021. 🙂

I had some hopes that the Jays would end the Rays winning streak tonight and leave the Brewers with a share of the record.

Those hopes took a big hit when I saw the Berrios was starting.

ETA- Springer homered off Drew Rasmussen to give the Jays a quick 1-0 lead.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Isn’t 25,000 only a sellout because they keep their upper deck closed?

Baez with .328 OPS and -7 OPS+ in 41 AB this year.

Four more seasons left on his contract. Over $24 M AAV.

Good thing he can tag a runner like nobody's business.

The cards commentators are awful... Tuned in to a little bit of pirates game yesterday, Matz in a 3-2 count misses several inches off the inside of the plate, and crouches

Commentator "everyone thought THAT was a strike, except the guy with the (short pause) little strike zone"

Later on Carson struck out looking on a pitch dotted at bottom of the zone , and they call it a "moveable strike zone, that's not a strike".

Oakland taking playing possum to a whole new level.

Obviously super early still, but refreshing nonetheless to look at the standings and see the Rays, Twins, Rangers and DBacks all joining the Brewers atop their respective divisions.

Even the Braves topping the NLE is kinda underdog vibes given Cohen’s offseason spending spree.

Do this year’s Oakland A’s have what it takes to break the 1962 Mets’ record of 120 losses in a single season?

Currently on pace for 134 losses.

The sooner that team moves the better...

What has the owner done to justify putting any effort into moving? It's a disgrace and I'd make him put a competitive product on the field first, because quite frankly who in Vegas wants to watch AAA players get raked on by major leaguers day after day

I think the MLB owners may require the current A’s owner to sell before moving.  Similar to what happened to the Expos.  Well not exactly similar but close enough.

A’s have bought land in Las Vegas.

This is a binding agreement so the A’s are leaving Oakland and will be moving to Las Vegas.

Sounds like target date is Opening Day 2027, so that gives them three plus years to return to being an MLB calibre organization before they relocate.

Will the A’s AAA team currently in Las Vegas just move to Oakland then?

Probably.  Should be interesting where they move that AAA affiliate.

With the A’s eventual move to Vegas that leaves Portland, Nashville, Charlotte, Montreal and Salt Lake City as possible new MLB cities.

Once the Rays situation is solved and that looks to be wrapping up soon also.  So my prediction is expansion of 2 teams in 2028.  I am going to go with Nashville and Portland as the expansion cities.  Which means the Brewers lose the Sounds as their AAA affiliate.

If that happens, they should purchase the Sounds and move them to Madison.

Surprised no one has mentioned Scherzer being tossed for a "substance" on his glove. Apparently he changed gloves and an MLB official watched him wash his hands between innings and they still tossed him. Also, apparently the umpire who tossed him is the only umpire who has tossed anyone for sticky stuff since they started checking.
