Probably not of course, but 4 of their last 5 losses have been by just a single run, so It's not that hard to imagine them having gone on a just absurd run with a little more offense.

They're already on a pretty absurd run, 20-9 since the six game losing streak middle of June.

I guess it could have maybe been a game or two more absurd-er, sure, but it's the most wins in MLB over that stretch already.

Brewers are now 20-9 (best record in MLB) since that six game losing streak in the middle of June.

Who’s the “hottest” team can depend on where you decide to start counting.

The Brewers 20-9 record since that losing streak is second to the Braves 20-7, and several other NL teams are close:

Phillies 18-10

Giants 18-11

Dodgers 17-10

Reds 18-11

Cardinals 16-11

The most impressive part of this is the Brewers going 7-2 against the Reds and Phillies, 2 teams that have been hot.

The next 9 will be no picnic either.

Whitefish Bay.

About a mile from the lake and 5 miles north of downtown.

They are out practicing for the show this weekend so we’ll be seeing/hearing them for a few days. They started yesterday.

Hi neighbor.

Nasty. Brewers just took 2/3 from the hottest team in baseball!

Even better if you buy the line that the Reds were "hot"... before we swept them.

The Reds being hot was not a line, it was a fact.

Coming into the series at AFF they had won 19 of 23. That is hot by any definition.

Yep, here it is.

March 10th...BABY...It's almosssssst like I watch way too many Minor League Tilts

The most surprising aspect of Monasterio's play with the Brewers, as noted in this write-up, has been his vastly improved and more consistent defensive work. Coming into this season he was literally a 0.950 Fielding % utility guy. He has been quite solid with the Crew. The bat always played - completely unsurprising to me. He can barrel a ball and occasionally showed streaks of real gap power to boot.

Quote

15) INF Andruw Monasterio - Monasterio was another successful minor-league free agent picked up by the Brewers after the 2021 season and, thankfully, he's back in the fold in 2023. He consistently hit all year in Triple-A and Double-A, carried that over for Caribes de Anzoategui this Winter, and is really coming into his own in the batters box. With the departure of Pablo Reyes (one of my absolute favorite former Brewers minor leaguers) this offseason, I see a player in Monasterio who has a chance to fill those super-utility shoes, as long as he continues to improve his defensive tools. Whereas Reyes might edge Monasterio in a foot race, overall I see a younger, more agile and athletic player, with a bigger build, who might be even more well-served by further diversifying his positional flexibility. Listed as a third baseman, Monasterio also plays both middle-infield spots, but I'd like to see what he can do with an occasional opportunity in the left- or right-field grass. Granted, this might be a stretch, as his entire minor-league career has been spent on the infield dirt, but it could be beneficial to his chances of someday getting a call-up. Regardless, Monasterio didn't skip a beat when he was shuttled down to Biloxi mid-season, and he showed enough intrigue in 2022 that I'll be paying close attention to see how he starts 2023.

Yeah, but they'd be 11-0 in their last ten with Hiura instead of Winker.

Cute, but is there an advanced stat out there that justifies Winker having that roster spot over Hiura or Urias right now?

No, just old fashioned ones. 5.080 service time and $8.25M salary.

If you consider projections advanced stats, Winker is projected between 105-112 wRC+ rest of season vs a 98 wRC+ projection on Hiura's page.

Urias has a 60 wRC+ in Nashville currently to go along with projections between 95-103 wRC+.

It's part of his offensive game that hadn't yet started showing up at the MLB level consistently - he's always been able to get on base even when he hasn't hit, so his stolen base/baserunning ability has improved his offensive value to help offset the lack of slugging.

Turang drove a few balls early in the season (remember the grand slam?), and it seemed to me like that got him out of his skin a little. What was frustrating to me wasn't just that he struggled, but HOW he was struggling. His approach should largely be based on the situation he finds himself in---outs, baserunners, even the score at the time. You want to see an aggressive mindset at the plate, but there's such a thing as being overly aggressive & I believe he's been guilty of that much of the season.

A couple walks drawn today, and a couple recent ABs where he fell behind in the count & still drew walks, are IMO good signs for Brice. I think he's been "getting himself out" way too often much of the season.

I am ok with taking 1/3 from the Braves as i was hoping to go 3-3 vs the Phillis and Braves

Brewers could go 4-5 in the next 9 games with 3 wins against the Reds and I would be content going 1-5 vs the Braves

I’m late to the party (work interrupted my Brewers baseball habit) but excited to see another Milwaukee victory & exceptional pitching performance from Cy Burnes 🙌💪

We need some bats but somehow these guys keep winning against quality opponents - even on the road

I see that Winker remains on the roster but isn’t getting ABs - I approve

The run-prevention machine is humming, combined with 2 or 3 guys starting to hit. That's usually all it takes.

Big shout out to some of the people the organization identified as guys who could help if need be. You'd never give Monasterio or Perkins a 2nd thought when perusing the systems' talent, but they've been instrumental in wins. Even Jones was the difference maker in one game.

I was too busy all day and not able to watch or listen. Maybe I should be "too busy" more often if this is the result.

Often Bally Sports will replay a game later in the day.  Perhaps it will be replayed this evening?

Is there a Monasterio fan club yet?  He will be in the infield mix for a long time with this kind of productivity.

Before the season, I was glad he was coming back because I thought he could at least be a serviceable AAAA guy to fill in during injuries. The way he's hitting, he could be a solid utility guy, long-term, on the MLB team.

Great win.  Cy Young Burnes is looking like he is back.  MVP Yelich back.  Front office likely currently scrambling together a contract to try to buy out Uribe's arby years and first year of Free Agency.   Today was a good day.

What on earth are Winkers rest of season projections based on?  If any of his stats before the 2022 season started play a factor at all, they're trash considering he suffered what is likely to be a career debilitating neck injury last year and never will be the player he was 2+ seasons ago.  Based in his body of work this season, including sporadic ABs since coming off the IL in mid June, there is zero chance Winker comes close to that production.  We might never find out for sure though, as he barely ever gets in the lineup anymore.

As for his salary and service time, who cares?

Winker still had a 108 wRC+ in 2022, they aren’t projecting him back to the 140 plus wRC+ marks he posted from 2020-21.

As for the service time and salary, the front office appears to care otherwise there is no other reason for him to still be on the roster.

At this point it is what it is, I’ll hope they make a move before the deadline while understanding the reasoning behind why they likely won’t.
