And probably looking at a short start from Woody Sunday, unless they hold him back till next week.

I made the comment during the game that a 7 inning start from the best starters occasionally would help reduce the load on the bullpen.

After the response that 7 inning starts don’t happen that often any more, I found something from earlier this season that 12% of all starts were 7 innings or more. My guess would be that the “elite” starters would account for a high percentage of that 12%.

Burnes has had 4 starts of 7+ innings, but Peralta has had none. His inefficiency is one of the things that keeps him from being elite.

Maybe Woodruff can get built up and be defective enough to help with this down the road.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Now that I've been dejected and deflated for 15 minutes, I'm over it. I don't think this team is good enough to win a World Series, but they'll be competitive to the end of the year. Taking us all the way to October is always the best outcome for me. Plus, there's some good young talent on this roster.

Whatever happens this offseason, I think it's going to be a period of organizational transition. I'll say this: the most fun I ever had following the Brewers was 2016. They weren't good, but they were enjoyable. If that's the worst-case scenario, I'm good with it.

Brandon Woodruff should be the poster child for the 7-inning+ start, and his absence has hurt immeasurably regarding the 'pen. Throw in Burnes being spotty (compared to what people have come to expect) regarding length. Lauer would do it once in a blue moon or so, and he's been gone, too, and not effective when he was here.

It's why I'd like to see Houser joining Wilson in basically the same role, if they can finagle it.

Tbh, the returns for trades have declined quite a bit. It's probably just better to hold on to him and use the draft pick return on a QO better nowadays. Besides the team is close with the addition of young bats next season on top of improved hitting from the 4 rookies this year to return Burnes for 1 last WS push before the departure on pitching impacts them the following seasons.

Come on. You have watched this team. There is absolutely no way this team improves next season and have 1 last WS push. Don’t delude yourself again,  especially when they offload a couple of their so called “stars” this off-season. You’re not accounting for the improvement of the Cubs, Reds, Cards and even the Pirates.

This team sucks.

…. but they just got two guys to improve the worst spots in the lineup from awful to average.

Just went back and watched that game-losing sequence. Monasterio's throw was obviously off-line up the 1B side, but, I firmly believe Contreras still has to make that catch. The double play was over the moment it left Monasterio's hand. It looked to me like Contreras simply failed to corral the catch and may have been thinking two - the inaccurate throw ricocheted off his catcher's mitt and then back toward the dugout. He can make that play. Is it easy? No. But, he made it look a lot harder than it was. When you slow down the replay you can definitely tell it bounced out of his mitt. The ball trajectory and speed both change.

What a sour way to end that game. We get our own double doink. Yay.

The most fun you had following the team was 2016?  Were you asleep during 2008, 2011, 2018, 2019, 2021, and every other better season?  Or are you an anti Brewer fan who roots for losses or something?

This Packers team might fall out of contention before the Brewers do!

Certainly a possibility.

I just finished a busy day or worked & decided to check the score ... OMG ... not again! I glanced at the score mid-afternoon & it was 2-1 Brewers entering the bottom of  the 9th inning. I dreaded checking back concerned that they might blow this game ... I hate to be right again. Good grief ... we lose another low-scoring game to Washington ... what a disaster of a series - losing two of three to a dreadful Washington team ... so similar to the Oakland series. Yuck ... just ruined my dinner. I'm so tired of under-performance by this awful offense - so much for the new bats. 🤮

Candelario is 6 for 7 in his first two games for the Cubs as they follow  up their 20 run performance of last night by coming back from a 5-2 deficit to,lead the Reds 8-5 in the 6th.

It takes over a week for the Brewers to score 28 runs and it might take that long for Santana and Canha combined to get 6 hits.

Certainly a double whammy that the Brewers main competition got their guy and the Brewers failed to address a major weakness at 3B. Anderson isn't the solution.

There was a force at home. Looked like Monasterio really rushed his throw as if a tag had to be made. He had more time to get the sure out.

No way can you blame Contreras there. It was an atrocious, rushed throw.

Tough loss.  Good news Reds lost.  Missed opportunity to move ahead.  Seem to be missing alot of those opportunities.

Need to go 5-2 on this homestand or 6-1 considering the next 6 games after that are on the Road against the Dodgers and Rangers.

Should of said the next 6 of 9 on the road are against the Dodgers and Rangers.  Missed the White Sox series.

Yep.  That’s about right.     Just a terrible offense.    That’s really all it is

I loved all those teams, for many different reasons. 2008 had a September stretch that was utterly gutting, and 2011 and 2018 had very sour endings. 2021 went out with a whimper and a blown save. 2019 was one of the worst losses I can remember as a fan.

None of that soured my enjoyment of those teams completely, but 2016 was a different kind of baseball fandom, watching without pressure and just low-key enjoying games. It was like the difference between a dance club and your neighborhood tavern, and there's space for both.

No trades this offseason aside from Adames it's easy to think by this time next season you have a lineup of Frelick, Yelich, Chourio, Contreras, Wiemer; Mitchell, Quero/Black, 3b, and Turang.

Burnes, Woodruff, Ashby/Peralta/Miserioski.

Uribe/Williams with Payamps closing out games. I'm just curious who the send to 1b.  Who plays 3b(Monesterio?)
