SO first up, Garrett is a lefty, so expecting Monasterio and Donaldson on the infield again

His Fastball and changeup have been really good this season, but his breaking stuff has been sub par

He has over performed this year, with an xBA of .276 and xSlg of .440, a 45.7% hard hit rate and xWOBA of .409. That's not good

The slider has been well located and thus effective, but everything else seems wild, with a lot of center cut sinkers in there. He doesn't give up a ton of extra base hits on the sinker, but consistent quality contact can hurt him. Potential to break out the bats tonight, and may need it if they're expecting 6ish innings between Megill and Rea tonight

Megill with a 1.08 ERA over his las 7 outings should be able to pitch 1 or 2 innings. I know some people didn't like this choice but I have no problems with it. Then Probably Collen Rea would be my guess.

I think there's a long stretch of games without a day off, and coming to playoffs, Counsell is being very wary of bullpen usage. Specifically of late we've seen much more management of Joel Payamps and Elvis Peguero, and having shown signs of wear and tear the rest hopefully helps the team at this juncture.

May use Wilson depending on how the game looks in 5th or 6th inning for multiple innings, that's a good shout. He'll maybe want him to cover for Houser as well though who is unlikely to go more than five innings tomorrow

Is Counsell getting playoff ready by trying something like this tonight? Bringing back the opener....

Yeah I think they are doing this so Rea can go like 5 innings without facing the top half of the order a 3rd time. Megill gets the first 4-5 hitters. Rea comes in and pitches through the 6th/7th. Then we bring in the fresh A bullpen of Peguero, Payamps, Williams if the score is close.

Man I love that, if that's what they do.  Looking forward to the game tonight.  Anyone else get blacked out on MLB.tv last night like me?  I couldn't figure out why.

Think it's one more day before we see Yelich. Without Canha, Monasterio could make his debut in the leadoff spot.

Monasterio 3B (.888 OPS vs. LHP)

Contreras C (1.086)

Santana 1B (.793)

Adames SS (.768)

Donaldson DH (.883)

Frelick RF (.733)

Wiemer CF (.843)

Taylor LF (.745, career)

Turang 2B (.456, yuck)

Obviously, Canha would make this lineup even better and would eliminate the need for Turang, but still very nice to throw out against a LHP.

Brewers' playoff odds now at 99.8% per fangraphs...90.2% for the NL Central

Brewers with the 24th most difficult remaining schedule (.477 W%). Cubs with the 15th most difficult (.503 W%).

I was thinking Caratini at C and Contreras DH today to avoid putting Turang in the lineup vs a LHP.

2B - Monasterio

DH - Contreras

1B - Santana

SS - Adames

3B - Donaldson

RF - Frelick

C - Caratini

LF - Taylor

CF - Wiemer

I'd agree with that. Contreras is due to DH with Burnes not pitching until Sunday. And Caratini, while not great, is a significantly better option than Turang against LHP.

Crowds have been light these first two games. Hopefully we can get more folks in the stands considering we’re in a pennant race here. I just watched highlights from the Phillies/Braves game last night and Citizens Bank Park was pretty packed.

We need a population increase and prices decrease!

Returning to rotation Thursday Houser (elbow) will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Thursday's game against the Marlins, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Impact Houser needed just a couple weeks of rest to recover from the elbow swelling that sent him to the IL on Aug. 28. The 30-year-old right-hander carries a 4.58 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 77:28 K:BB in 90.1 innings this season with the Brewers.

Do the Brewers discount tickets on weeknights in September? I was at the Mariners game on Monday night which had a crowd of 37,000, but more than half the stadium was discounted to the $10-20 range. They do that for pretty much all weeknight games when school is in session.

Why even watch this game when Ella DLC and Pete CA are making average plays for their position on a nightly basis? 🤮

It was great that the Rockies beat the Cubs last night.

I have a feeling that will be their only win of the series.

Any games they win in Wrigley Field next week should be considered a bonus.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Had the correct lineup, but not the correct batting order.

Nice to see CC has given up on Turang against LHP for now. He's young and developing, but you can't have an automatic out (which Turang is against LHP) in the order.
