Has anyone in the organization even mentioned this as a remote possibility?   The only time I hear his name is on this board.     I don’t think he will be called up to play this year      And definitely not chourio

btw is Garrett Mitchell a possibility this year yet

Mitchell hasn't started his rehab assignment yet, and Hogg implied he'd stick with Nashville through the end of their season, so maybe he could help out the last week of the season and the playoffs, but not anytime too soon.

I mean, when you're in AAA and hot like he is, you're right there. They have to add him to the 40 man anyways this offseason. CC addressed it and said it's a possibility.

Is Black really hot though?

He has a 111 wRC+ in Nashville over 134 PAs.

On August 22nd he homered off position player Daniel Robertson, since then he has posted a 111 wRC+ in 70 PAs.

Before that game, he had a 97 wRC+ in 58 PA at AAA.

He's been better of late, but he hasn't really been hot since Biloxi.

September slash for Black: .333/.475/.567.

That's not hot?

I don't see the Brewers needing to add untested prospects at the MLB to their 40 man roster the final couple weeks of this season - it just doesn't make much sense in terms of an organization that values years of team control and service clock management, particularly for position players.  I though Gasser was the only non-40 man prospect that could see Milwaukee in September, and I think with how the rotation is rolling I doubt that happens, either (unless this stretch of games w/out offdays has the existing staff taxed due to overuse/injury between now and last week of September.)

It is colorado, so any lead is unsafe...but at this point I can see the Cubs missing the playoffs altogether moreso than them taking the top wild card spot or even less likely making a run at the division.  Their pen and pitching staff in general is on fumes right now...It would be gravy to have the division locked up headed into that last series and then also play a hand in knocking the Cubs out of the playoffs, too.

It's hot, but it's also 40 plate appearances.

In the 30 PAs between his position player HR on 08/22 and the calendar flipping to September he hit 250/300/250 (42 wRC+).

We'll see if it sustains, but hot is hot. Right now, over the last two weeks, Black has been hot.

The good thing is the quality of contact has improved. A lot of more line drives and a lot fewer ground balls.

I still think it's very unlikely he gets called up. If Brewers were going to add a prospect who isn't Rule 5 eligible this offseason to the 40-man it would have happened already imo. I think Brewers would rather have Miller/Perkins on the MLB roster than Black at this point just for the offseason flexibility.

Come on, you know what's HOT?!? The Rockies leading 7-3 over the Cubbies headed to the bottom of the 8th. That's sizzlin'. Hurts just looking at that score.

Who would pass them though.    I don’t see that happening

Rockies' announcers praising the Brewers right now. "Best defense and top 3 starters in baseball". "Threats to the Dodgers and Braves."

Also, basically handing the division to the Brewers if the Rockies hold on. Wouldn't quite go that far yet, but it's getting closer.

I'd forgotten Box was on the Cubs. 15+IP, 5.17 ERA - looks like we made the right call there.

Results have been a mixed bag for the 4 RP they let go from last year. I still think they made the right call on them. Boxberger and Gott have been bad. Topa and Suter have been good but the decisions to move on from them were plenty valid. Topa was too injury prone for us and Suter was getting expensive for a non-leverage pen roll.

I've been browsing bleedcubbieblue and northside baseball the last few days and the fan sentiment seems to be that the division isn't really in play and that it's just the WC that is the focus now.

What is this reasoned thinking? I will not stand for it. No SIR!

Our bullpen is pretty damn good.   We aren’t missing any of this guys including hader.

That would solve the wiemer problem.

He would not be back until the last week at the earliest.

Exactly how Brewers fans felt around this time in 2018.

The Cubs loss today makes me feel better about the Brewers having to play the next two days with the bottom of their pitching staff and a little shorthanded in the lineup.

A golden opportunity to open up a real cushion.

But he won’t be solving any problems coming in that late.

The Cubs play the Diamondbacks again so if the Cubs lose that series they are the final wild card. Then all they need is one of the Reds/Marlins/Giants to get hot. Not likely still but there is a path to miss the playoffs.

Would you rather have wiemer or Mitchell batting in a playoff game or any of those games at the end of the season to win the division.

At this time in 2018, the Brewers were only a game and a half out of first place.

The giants are terrible.   Throw them out.     Let’s hope we put the marlins out of their misery these next two weeks also
