I'd feel better about Houser making his return if Wilson was available, which he obviously isn't. As long as he gets through 5 or so we should be fine.

I've seen comments in recent days about the walks drawn, and insinuations of luck being involved. Yeah, it's fortunate when the opposing pitcher can't command the way he'd like. But I've seen way too many instances over the years where there are walks to be had, and we don't extract them due to poor discipline & count recognition, lousy situational awareness etc. Bases on balls are often a large part of any rally. I applaud them for improvement in that area. It's too bad they weren't a little better at that on Sunday. As good as he was, Cole had 3 or 4 walks in him late in the count but we chased.

Let's string together some good ABs today. I hope the lineup doesn't suffer from a case of "give him one more day-itis"

Actually Cole is the only recent pitcher of note I've seen have some success against this lineup, especially getting the chases, and I think it's important to note that the umpires massive stroke zone played a big big part in both his and Burnes effectiveness.

Off the top of my head, Scherzer and dunning were on top form for the Rangers when both got outlasted by the fifth.

I'd also argue Steele was lucky, although pitching well, that the wind was that strong blowing in from left field or there would have been several homers there too

That's off the top of my head just, but it's a big difference from the last two years where the Brewers made hay against poor pitching and disappeared against any quality

Yeah Wiemer may very well go 0-4 with 4 strikeouts and do it in a very efficient manner.

Poor Joey.  He is good defensively and is fast as hell but hits about as well as a pitcher...

Turang's OPS back under .600.  Plenty of reason to think he will improve offensively but not many positives to take away from his stick this year.

I might be crazy but one has to wonder what the point of hitting coaches are if they continue to allow Weimer to do what he's been doing with his hands.    Like if they're not allowed to tinker with that, players reject or demand to figure that stuff out on their own etc then why are they there.      He doesn't have to be sent down to work on this, he's had tons of off days and it's such an obvious thing to clean up every day in BP

I agree, though I also think that's fine. He's at 1.6 bWAR, and, while that's not where anyone wants him long-term, it's been enough for the Crew this year.

I'm more concerned about Weimer, as I know others are. Frelick looks the guy most likely to succeed from a prospect standpoint, but things change quickly in this game.

Well done Rowdy. And they’re jacking up Perez’s pitch count, which I think they mentioned he was on a pitch count today. It’d be nice to get into that bullpen sooner in the game.
