Well, they had to lose sometime. Just sucks that they did it on a couple baserunning blunders.

Why? Teams do put together winning streaks of 10 games and longer.

It really hurts to lose two games on consecutive Sundays where they wasted exceptional pitching performances because they can’t scratch out a run here or there, even when gifted a runner in second base to start the innings. And there was no Cole on the mound today.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Frustrating loss. By now we should expect the win two lose one Brewers. They just are not able to sweep teams due to the lack of offense. Today was shambolic

Yeah. Have to know where the guys are positioned.  Need to score there

He was on 2nd base, and the ball was hit more-or-less behind him to the right side, with some air under it. With zero or one out, you're always going to freeze on a ball like that unless the 2nd baseman is playing almost directly behind the bag, which wasn't the case there. As long as there's less than two out, the way Monasterio & Lane reacted to the play is something you see more often than not.

And yet they have 8 sweeps this season, not counting 2 gamer vs MIN at home.

No reason to go crazy over a loss but the fact is this lineup sucks and its going to be very difficult winning playoff series without anyone even close to being a star.

William Contreras has been the best catcher in baseball this year. That's not a "star"?

Sure there is. Just make sure you say it after the "right" games lol.

Where were they the rest of the week when we were doing nothing but winning?

Now do where they won the first two and lost the 3rd one. Bet it's more than 8.

Five times.* In other words, three times before they went to NY last week. Recency bias. I'll admit I thought it would be a larger number too.

But if you win the first two, is it really something to complain about?

* I'm just talking about 3 game series.

Honestly that is not as much as I thought. Nope nothing to complain about just being greedy.

So in other words the Brewers are 8-6 in the final game of a series going for a sweep. (JFS omitted the chance at the 4 gamer vs Reds in June.)  That's a .571 winning percentage.  Of course I wish they won every game always, but at the least, Milwaukee is a pretty good baseball team.

The way this team is built, long winning streaks are hard. They really only win one kind of game: a close one (it's a long season, always exceptions, etc., but winning 3-1 is a big part of the philosophy). That means you're often relying on guys like Viera to pitch two very high leverage innings to win your fourth game in a row. And Viera was very good! But lack of situational hitting and some bad luck turn it into an L.

It happens. The Crew has put itself in an incredible position with two weeks left. Get 4 wins this week, and you're looking at a great chance you can rest people the next.

Well, if they keep doing that, they'll win the World Series.

Win two out of every three games in the playoffs, you win the World Series. #brewersinsix

I'm not frustrated about the loss as much as I am the fact they score 1 run or less in 1/3 of their games this last week.

Do that in the playoffs and it will be a short stay.

Yep. Just some mind-blowing hot takes on this place when the team does a bunch of good and then loses one in unfortunate fashion. You win series consistently and you have as much chance as anyone.

Would love to see the diamond backs hang on tonight

As they did. Still +6.5.

I'm waiting for the thread that goes something like "Should we bring up Janson Junk & Caleb Boushley to start in Miami just so the fish can ace you-know-who out of the playoffs?"😛.

I don’t think of it as 6.5 right now.    The cubs basically have 10 games to make up 3.5 games against us.    If they do that then they control their own destiny going into those last three games.    I would rather not get to that point.     We really don’t need to lose 5 or 6 of these 7 games this week.
