I on the whole like Counsell but this is where the player in him hurts. Of course every player wants the shot he gave Turang but the Showalter type who didn't play just looks at the book and says sit down son. It hurts the decision making  process. That was a zero brain decision.

Exactly why Counsell needed to PH for Turang there. Letting him hit, you conceded an out, and then a DP gets them out of the inning. Not a conventional DP mind you but still. All you needed to do was to put someone in to PH that could hit a fly ball or draw a walk, or hell even make contact. I would have had confidence in anyone of the bench guys doing that(except Weimer). Great job Counsell. I sure as hell had no confidence in Turang doing that.
