One group says yes and wants to start digging

https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2023/11/01/cold-case-group-believes-jimmy-hoffa-could-be-buried-in-milwaukee/71410187007/

Quote

The piece of evidence upon which they've built this theory is a playing card left by Sgt. Harold Walthers for his niece. According to the group's research, Walthers had been indicted for jewelry robbery and became an associate of Chicago mafia don Joey Aiuppa. In 1996, a year before he died, Walthers showed the ace of spades to his niece, Michelle, a county deputy, and indicated that "if something happens to me, you'll know what to do. On the card is written Hoffa's name, as well as Aiuppa's, and "3rd Base Milwaukee Ball Park 9-16-95."

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I guess I'm not old enough to understand what the fascination is about where the guy is buried.

A Google search will take care of that. Lol

I miss County Stadium. Modern ballparks are all flash, no substance. They do nothing for me. You can keep your gargantuan video scoreboards, blaring music, and overpriced food.

So there are people who believe Jimmy Hoffa was buried in the middle of a professional sports stadium in the middle of the season? And the proof is some writing on a playing card found 45 years later?

Those people should be involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

On 9-16-95 the Brewers were in Toronto for the 5th game of a season long ten day road trip.

Plenty of time to bury a body and still be ready for first pitch at 7:08 PM on the 22nd.

But yeah, obviously the whole thing is a lark. Hoffa’s buried in the basement of the Alamo.

I hate to disagree, but Hoffa is buried in the end zone of the old Meadowlands. Hence, the term, "coffin corner" for a punt.

It has VERY little to do with age. One of the most powerful people in the Country and one of the Men most responsible for Unions who was tied to organized crime just vanished without a trace and people are interested in what happened to him.

People will always want to know what happened with Amelia Earhart, and JonBenét Ramsey...they'll want to know if Hitler made it to Argentina, or

This is the old kid in history class who says, "who cares, I wasn't even alive when this happened."

Now if you just don't care how he died...fine. It's pretty well established he was killed by the mob and disposed of(The original story I heard made the most sense, shot, incinerated at a crematorium, and gone).

This happened...15 years before I was born...and I find it fascinating.

You're kidding, right?

It's so hard to tell as ANY time some thread's not strictly sticking to OPS+ and Baseball, you have people...bizarrely jumping in telling mods to lock it.

Don't post in it if you don't want!

Now...maybe you were kidding, I'm not sure. But it's still weird.
