Two weeks into 2024 is better than even later.  But being two weeks late to start this thread bugs me.  Blame covid.

My car battery died and I called AAA. I'm thankful I'm home because I'm on hour 6 of waiting for them to show up. I had work and plans today. I guess not.

I have a house I rent from my employer. So instead of me just paying my utility bills directly, now they pay it for me, then I have to research how much they've paid, and then I have to pay it myself into the work computer which doesn't have any line-item for "employee utilities" and I don't really trust that they've seen I've actually paid it. So much better! And we're paying some outside company to do this all for us, too. I guess it's to monitor our use, but since I pay for my own use, what's it to them?

My state also has a "Law Enforcement Special Supplement" which pays me money between retirement and age 62. It's called a "benefit" but I have to pay for it each month. For me, I'll be paying more into it than I get out of it. I don't understand how they can make this payment mandatory, like it's a forced-annuity or something. I'd like my $50,000 back and you can keep your "benefit".

Well, I wish I didn't have to pay into a pension or into social security...but here we are. Gotta love mandatory programs to protect idiots from not saving at all.

Probably a bit above the "bugging" stage...

I was suffering chest pains Wed last week.  I blew them off and didn't go to Urgent Care like my wife wanted.  On Thu, they became extremely severe.  I went to Theda Clark in Neenah at that point.

We were told my only treatment option was to take an ambulance ride to Froedtert in Mil..  Turns out what I got was an aortic dissection.  Pretty major.  Both my parents died from aortic aneurysms in the last 2 years.  I had to take the ambulance as they weren't flying that night.  Wife was being told that I had a 5% chance of surviving the trip.

Survive I did I guess, and I've been in the hospital for the last week. Lots of pain from this.

I've been hearing noise of Brewer moves lately, so I thought I'd come here to get my "real" news.  Been out of the loop A bit.

Hey just want to say glad you're still living and I hope you make a full recovery. Get well soon. Lotta baseball to enjoy yet!

Thanks bud.  I was in ICU about 4 days.  Regular room now.  My best friend in West Allis is visiting most days, which helps. I definitely plan to enjoy life more this year and see some games.  Brewers and T-Rats.

Finally made it out of the hospital on Sunday.  Funny how one surgery makes me forget how to walk.  Was there two weeks and two days.  For the first two weeks, my blood pressure would plummet when I stood.  The last two days I finally started walking and PT and OT signed off on me pretty quickly.

Recovery going slowly at home. Wife's usually getting me out once a day to walk at a store.

This'll take awhile.

Microsoft engineers.

What consumer research said that 8-point font size works for everybody in the Outlook email folders pane, the Excel format chart pane, etc.

Google could not save me.  Anyone know how to increase the font sizes on the side panes of 365 applications?

Microsoft knows best and you can’t change that.

Golf Simulators are all of a sudden everywhere. Is there really a demand for this stuff? Oshkosh all of a sudden has 3-4 of these bars and places to do this kind of stuff. Maybe this grinds my gears because I'm not a golfer. Or is the technology just that much better now and cheaper to operate?

I bet they do leagues and stuff on these things, maybe it is pretty cool.

Where I work has one. Well, had. It's been broken for at least a year. We finally are close to replacing it and when I heard the cost it seemed like an awful lot to me. But people call all the time asking if it's been fixed so there certainly seems to be demand for it.

Does anyone know what caused the huge backup on eastbound I-94 last evening (March 7) in Jefferson County? It was a parking lot for 30-45 minutes before we finally climbed on the shoulder, backtracked to HWY 73 & went south to HWY 18. Several people bailed out in a similar way. I've never experienced anything so bad; of course I don't live in the northeast.

More than two weeks of my stomach hurting me has kinda stunk. It's waking me up in the middle of the night, even. Finally saw a doctor today and at least got some better-than-Pepto pills.

I hope everything is ok... Gotta cut down on those Ghost Peppers... 😉

Thanks. Green peppers are right at the height of my heat tolerance, actually. I've stopped ordering the Subway Spicy Italian because the pepperoni was a bit too much. But stomach has been getting better lately and in a month go back in to make sure it's not some organ refusing to work right. And eating celery and plain lettuce for dinner is probably good for me in more ways than one.

An upset pancreas seems to explain the stomach pains, recent weight gain, high lipase and glucose levels. Guess I'll have to drink more water and quit having my usual nightcaps for a good while.

The British will be having their elections on July 4th! I am completely offended by this OFFENDED I TELL YOU!

Also been talking about this with some friends and coworkers but the 4th of July shouldn't be a holiday.  It should always be the first Friday of July or better yet it should be a whole week because Murica that's why!

Since every other thing that wants to be noticed and worshipped takes a full month, why not have 4th of July Month?

My son has a sudden vendetta against faucets.  He damaged the kitchen sink yesterday, can no longer transition between spray and normal.  And tonight completely broke off the cold handle of one of the bathroom faucets.
