Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread! (2024 edition)

Have quickly lost 15 lbs after quickly gaining it, and am still trending down. Basically just swapped out late snack for dried fruit and the nightcap has turned into tea. I don't like tea, but so be it.

Back into lifting weights and while I should be getting 250g of protein per day, even with protein shakes I don't know how anyone does it because I'm just full all the time and can only stomach about 150g.

The political commercials where they tell you to call some random number to complain... who the hell is doing that?

Had a colonoscopy yesterday. When I woke up the doctor was wearing scuba gear. It may be time to switch doctors.

He really dove into that colonoscopy.

Whenever someone is late responding to an email and comes back with "Sorry, I didn't see this in my inbox!" they can immediately be branded as a liar.

Oh...damn, you'd hate me as a friend then!

When I owned rental properties, I had an email that I checked daily, but my personal email, I'd have 2K in there.

I'm probably at 750 and 200 are work related in some way(various reports I don't care about or need to see, but I have to mark read). work-related.

I'm on a family plan for my personal phone...this number dates back to HS, so it's still in my Dad's name, so I get 15 spam calls a day from that, I get another ~10-12 work and 5-6 personal, so I don't answer save for a couple that have unique ring tones, but I'm bad with that also.

And if you message me on FB, probably gonna be a week or two before that gets read.

Yeah..."call ___(insert incumbent elected official) and tell them to stop letting kids die from Fentanyl."

The text messages are annoying also...and relentless.

Brave's mobile ad blocker must be that good. For being in WI with this election cycle, I haven't seen/heard a single ad.

The one thing that has probably helped the most is moving from using the YouTube app to m.youtube.com. I've even created a shortcut the that website on my home screen to mimic the convenience of the app. The browser version is functionally indistinguishable from the app.

My android seems to do a good job blocking all the text messages.

All they sees is this is not the droid you're looking for.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Mine blocks nothing. But, it's probably my fault. I've used it for so many things over the years... a free trial with Max or...whatever it is, and they're obviously selling that information.

You have to put it in Jedi mode.

My next door neighbor is moving and she sold us some stuff so she doesn't have to take it with her.  One is a chest freezer.  It's probably the "2-deer" size (LOL).  Anyway, here's my question.  I see online people say to defrost it and empty it before a move.  But if I'm moving it, literally, 100 feet from her garage to mine, do we need to defrost it or do you think it would be fine moving with a dolly over to our house without a defrost?  Thoughts?

Should be fine unless you don’t turn it back on in a few hours and keep the door open.

Particularly the last one is the "google is listening" feature on Android but they're all tracking-related. Delete/Off these settings and you should see a marked improvement. My phone also went from 20% battery by 6pm to 70%.

The big thing is to wait a while before plugging it in if it had to tilt or lay down while moving it.  Any time I have to move I wait a few hours before plugging in the chest freezer.  That makes for a good opportunity to defrost it too.

I mean, do you really want someone's unknown frozen stuff to make its way into your house?

Defrost and clean it.

Every now and again I run into youtube videos where they delete the backing music and play the standalone vocals. It's unbelievable how talented many of those singers were, particularly knowing it all was pre-auto-tune. Marvin Gaye was especially impressive.
