Seems odd he would go overseas when he is just a step away from the majors.  Last year must have been disappointing for him as there were plenty of chances to call him up and he only got a couple.  I'm sure he knows he will start in AAA since he has an option left.  However, the Brewers depth is not that strong and he would very likely get more opportunities next year. Its most players dream to play in the majors and he could be deferring that a couple years.

Brewers writer Curt Hogg had an article on Junk less than a month ago and was making sound like Junk could have a promising career in the bullpen. Maybe Jericho is correct and best case he is bullpen filler but would have liked to have seen what he could do this year.

If he plays well in Japan and comes back in a year or two to play in the MLB, do the Brewers still own his rights or would he be a free agent?

The Brewers would have to release Junk for him to be able to go play in Japan, so I think the answer to your question is no.

Interestingly, if Junk is seeking opportunities in Japan it tells me he already has the go-ahead from the Brewers to try to find a situation that would advance his career more than remaining in the Brewers organization.

... Which would be cool if it meant the Brewers needed his roster spot because they were going to sign a meaningful FA.

Tempted to put that in blue b/c it's hardly realistic, but it's always fun to dream.

If his future is in a bullpen it probably isn't here, he will never get a shotbwith our depth. It would stink to lose him but he is an easy to replace AAA depth pitcher. Good luck, hope he has a couple good years and gets a legit big league shot.

On an unrelated note, what ever happened to Taylor Jungman? His baseball reference page doesn't have any foreign stats after he left us.

I’m not a member myself, so can’t see the whole thing, but he has a LinkedIn page.

Apparently he creates effective, impactful communication projects and events.

Not much there... The only things listed under what I could snapshot was his time with the Brewers and U-Texas.

Wait... "Raptor Construction"... is he in business with Suter???

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

What can I say? I heard Junk say he was taking his wife around the world on their wedding night. I guess I misunderstood.
