I had that on in the background today, yea that was ridiculous.  At some point a called 3rd strike to end an ending happened too where the pitch wasn't really close at all, way off the plate.  I don't recall which team it was against but it was against whoever the announcers were as they commented and picked on Wendelstedt and called him out on how terrible it was.  I'm for robots but if they still hesitate at least give each team like 2 per game they can challenge. There was one in the Fri Brewers game that would've ended the 9th either for the win or to keep it at 1-1(which they did anyway) but it was a clear missed. Would've been a good time to challenge and end an inning rather than give the opportunity for a bad call to change the outcome.

Side note Lucas Erceg was throwing 100 in it.  Announcers made some comments on how MKE traded him for nothing but his stuff is so good so they can't believer why etc.  Of course I'd assume they don't know the backstory on being a position player and all that.

It was Schueman to end the 5th. Just so far outside.

Erceg was dealing, for sure. But that closer Oakland had, Miller, struck out Volpe, Soto and Judge on 14 pitches to end the game. Throwing 102. Fun game to have on in the background while working.

Umps just making up for the dozen times they resisted tossing him.

This is probably correct, but you can't just decide 10 minutes later that you wish you ejected the guy and do it for literally no reason. Baseball culture has changed a lot over the last 20-30 years. You can actually celebrate a hr without some obnoxious tool throwing at your head the next at bat. Maybe the next change can be transforming current precedent for throwing players(and managers, but I care a lot less about them) for extremely minor reasons....or really for most reasons. Players should almost never get thrown out. I'm not gonna hold my breath on anything changing. Nobody seems to think it's a problem

It's true that I tend to sympathize with umps across all sports and across all levels. That doesn't mean that it doesn't anger me when I feel like Angel Hernandez has stolen the game from the Brewers. It doesn't mean that I don't enjoy booing an ump in person. I just tend to believe that perfection is the enemy of good enough when it comes to officiating (e.g. replay to change PI in football, replay to change fouls in NBA, VAR is a disaster in soccer), and that it gives too much credence to the notion that this stuff is actually important enough to care this much.

In addition, I tend to believe in being able to treat the impartial arbiters in any context with more decorum than we've allowed in sports. At the risk of sounding too much like Chris Carpenter, what are we teaching our kids?

Perhaps the ump identified the wrong guy. But perhaps the FAN should have been tossed.

Anyone else see this and was reminded of the Black Sox??

McNeil thought he saw Rhys Hoskins out of the corner of his eye, which was filled with tears.

Jackson Holliday has gone 2-34 to start his career and has a -51 wRC+, second worst in the league for guys with at least 30 plate appearances. The only guy in the majors who is worse is old friend Martin Maldonado and his -59 wRC+.

Chourio is struggling but this is waaaaay worse.

For folks who like to dislike the Brewers announcers, especially the 'analyst' types like Rock and Dillard (I'm with those that he tries too hard on the comedy, but overall he's fine) you should throw on MLB network and listen to the Detroit game today.   The play by play guy is good and sounds very familiar probably from national stuff, but the 'analyst' can barely function and is tough to listen to. I think its Kirk Gibson but could be wrong and I assume most can be chalked up to getting old but it once again reminds that even as we get sick of our guys they're generally well above par for the rest of the league.

I totally agree with this. I get that the schtick from the Brewers guys is dumb sometimes, but sometimes, baseball is a little dull. Might as well have fun with it -- its a GAME after all. Overall, I prefer the guys like Rottino and Chris Singleton doing slightly deeper analysis, but I don't mind the goofballs as much as I mind the guys that take the game too seriously.

I heard Kirk Gibson earlier this year and I felt the same way. It made the broadcast more boring, and I found his analysis lackluster.

I hope the Brewers continue to mix-and-match, and switch up the broadcasts with the whole crew (More Singleton and Dan Plesac, please). I like the variety.

Maybe Gibson works some of their games, but I've watched them when Dan Petry (former pitcher) was the analyst & he sounded like some 79-yr-old guy that was killing time because it wasn't quite meds & nap time yet. I proceeded to look it up & he's my age, which makes me wonder how such a youthful guy can sound so lackluster.😁

I honestly feel like Dillard has improved, I actually had to think when the last time I really heard him forcing a joke and couldn't really recall much. And his actual analysis is fine when he's being serious which again feels like most of the time. I'm content with the guys we have, I know that not everybody is going to like everyone so it's very subjective.

He's been sent down to the minors. There's no reason to think Chourio is immune to this same scenario.

Before they officially blow it by winning tonight I wanted to point out that going into today the White Sox were ahead (behind?) of the Cleveland Spiders pace at 19.44 wins on the year...

I've been thinking he's getting close to being sent down. At some point "figuring it out" at the MLB level turns into crushing lack of confidence. The strikeouts and non-competitive at bats are stacking up. I think a reset could be a good thing for him.

Astros DFA Jose Abreu and he's actually accepting the assignment. I didn't know it was mathematically possible to have a negative OPS+

The Orioles have handled their call up of top prospect Heston Kjerstad very strangely.

He was called up April 23rd, started that night, then rode the bench until the 26th, where he got one pinch hit appearance.

He has rode the pine since, and is not starting tonight either.

No injuries, just brought him up to watch I guess.

This is just odd as hell.

Trout out again with an injury.  He is starting to look like Griffey Jr. towards the end of his career with all of the injuries.

Trout is still on a HoF path but it is not looking like the historic Ruth like HoF career for Trout like it did 5-years ago.

Yeah it's pretty brutal, especially with how he was raking to start the year. He's already a hall of famer if he retires tomorrow, but I agree that it's disappointing to see that he won't get as high up the career WAR rankings as he could have gotten.

Is anyone else surprised the NL West only has one team above .500 while the AL Central only has one team below .500?
