Not opposed to the team or the idea of getting MLB pitching back but not really interested in Rogers as a headliner for Willy and Wiemer.

The other two don't really move the needle either. They don't look to be upgrades over what we have at those positions. I'd want pitching

The Marlins aren't a rich team and need cost controlled players. If they need a controllable shortstop, how about this?

Marlins: Turang and a lotto ticket

Brewers: Cabrera

I think the Brewers would prefer Cabrera over Rogers.  I don't believe the Brewers would have any interest in Groshans or Zubia.  Would need to replace them with something else that I don't think the Marlins have.

If it is both Willy and Weimer/OF I would need Cabrera (or Max Meyer) back. If it is just Willy I would be ok with Rogers and a mid-level prospect (we could probably eat some of his contract to ante up the prospect)

I like Rogers but that would make a heavily lefty-laden rotation with Miley, Gasser, Ashby, and Hall already in the mix.   I wonder if the Brewers would prefer Max Meyer or possibly Cabrera back from Miami.   A framework around one of those pitchers makes sense though.

The other two guys aren’t attractive for the Brewers IMO.  Something would have to be changed to make it make sense to deal Wiemer.   Even lotto tickets.

Pretty hilarious trade suggestion. 2 crappy prospects and a constantly injured SP who has had 1 good MLB season for Adames and Wiemer...talk about hack job homer trade hypothetical.

I would consider Adames for Rogers.  I'd need more though.

Certainly not giving them Weimer for the other 2 stiffs.  No chance.

Edit:  I see I'm way off according to BTV, but I don't care.

Seems like a fair trade if the front office is confident in Rogers's medicals, but I hate to give up on Wiemer this early. I'd rather do Adames/Mitchell.

Peralta - Rogers - Miley - Hall is already back to being a pretty solid top of the rotation, even more so if Gasser and/or Ashby come out of the gate strong.

To be honest, I don't mind keeping Adames, as long as he isn't going to be counted on to bat in the top 5 or 6 in the batting order.

Adames as your 6 or 7 hitter is fine, as your 2, 3 or 4 hitter, nope.  Tired of that act.

I doubt he is going to get us much in trade.  I'm pretty sure we put more value on him because he's a Brewer than all the other teams do.  They can see him, his stats, his tape.  Just not going to get us much on the trade market imo.

His stats? He's averaged a 107 wRC+ and has put up 11.3 fWAR the last three seasons. ZIPS projects him for a 112 wRC+ and a 4.1 fWAR this year.

Compare that to what's on the market currently for SS's, he'd fetch a pretty penny, even with one year of control left. You're talking about a top 10 SS in the game.

Don't even need to trade Adames for Cabrera. I'd give up Mitchell for him. Cabrera would be my target, though, on that Marlins staff because obviously we're not getting Eury or Garrett.

I disagree.

If we can get a pretty penny, then we better take it.

We shall see.

I'm all for trading Adames. I am not as bullish as some seem to be. Maybe it's because he has been underperforming in the spot in the batting order that Counsell had him. He's just not a 2-3-4 guy. If that expected 107 wRC+ was batting sixth, I might have a different perception of his value. Maybe with a better spot in the lineup, he'd see different pitches and do even better.

I'm glad he's popular, and I know his fielding is excellent. Like the line from Glengarry Glen Ross:  "You're a nice guy? I don't (care). Good father? (Censored)! Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here? Close! You think I'm too hard on you?"

Package him and Mitchell (another guy I'm not high on) and get something back.

Do the Jays have anything you'd like to see come back for Adames? https://tosportsblog.com/is-willy-adames-the-next-blue-jays-trade-target/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=is-willy-adames-the-next-blue-jays-trade-target

Agree in general, but man, 5 of those 6 guys are lefties.  Seems crazy to me.

Interesting idea as the Jays could use a boost at 3B/2B, though I don’t think Adames (+18 DRS | +17 OAA from 2021-23) on the eve of free agency would be the one moving off SS with Bichette at -9 DRS | -15 OAA over that same time frame.

Only guy close to Adames (per BTV’s estimation anyway) that really makes sense is Alex Manoah.

Would be a pretty huge risk given his implosion last year, but if he figured it out again that’s potentially four years of a TOR starter.

I think I heard recently that the Jays had no interest in moving Manoah right now, and that he was really working hard this winter to get things back on track this season.  But, maybe that could have been your usual "GM Speak?"  Just like we heard that Arnold was not interested in moving Burnes at all this winter - although that situation was certainly different with the controllable years left on both of these guys being vastly different.

If the Jays are willing to trade Manoah, I think that would mean that they don't think he's going to ever be good again. That would be my concern.
