Shocker: MLB’s biggest pythagorean underperformer kicks the living run differential out of MLB’s biggest pythagorean overperformer.

Cubs fans are complaining that Counsell keeps running out the same lineup and the cubs aren't winning. What exactly do they expect him to do? Draw names out of a hat for the lineup and hope it works out? He's probably getting about as much as he can out of that roster. The roster was never that good to begin with.

I think you're right. But let them be frustrated & complain, and let CC take heat, whether warranted or not. Best of both worlds.

It's pretty amazing how quickly he destroyed his image as one of the best managers in the game, only took half a season.  Yeah, he got an extra $2.5 million a year, but if they have another season like this, how long do you think they'll keep him around?  Meanwhile the Brewers offered to make him the highest paid manager in the league and he had a job for life here if he wanted it.  Really, after the success he had here, how many losing seasons would he have had to have as Brewers manager for them to actually fire him?  He had so much goodwill built up with the fans and burned it in an instant for what?

Isn't the same if not better lineup from last year? Who did they lose?

They are all hitting worse than last year. They have one guy (Busch) with an OPS north of 800. Morel, Bellinger, Hoerner, and Swanson have all hit significantly worse. Throw in Pete Crow Armstrong and his sub 600 OPS and you have the makings of an awful offense.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Well, the buck stops with Counsey. Old man Rossy got them to hit... :)

I’m sure chemistry matters. You can’t just randomly fire a manager or leader without unintended consequences.

Pretty sure some here accused Counsell of doing exactly that.

Remember how many were predicting that the Cub fanbase would not care for Counsell's style?  Well, props to you guys!

Horse(bleep) is one of my favorite words in the American English language.

Particularly when it's used to describe the Cubs' defensive and baserunning level of effort.

Pirates Jared Jones placed on IL so Brewers won’t be facing him next week.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Couldn't agree more, but I'm not about to miss an opportunity to dunk on bad takes from cubs fans.

Not a huge fan of this whole Cardinals climbing the standings thing...if they add a SP and goldschmidt gets going, we might have some competition for the division.

I’m hopeful the Royals can go into Saint Louis and take 2 of 3. 🤷‍♂️

At 4.5 games out, I think we are past the "might have" stage.

The Cardinals just went 5-2 against the Pirates and Nationals. Just imagine the meltdowns around here if the Crew goes 2-4 this week against the Pirates and the Nationals.

Just imagine the posts from the posters that secretly revere the Cardinals' history of being the class of the division.

Oh man, it could be unbearable. Brewers gotta win this week.

Good on Kansas City for taking both games of doubleheader against Cardinals today.

Cubs head to Saint Louis this weekend. Cubs have won three straight including two game sweep of Baltimore and are threatening to climb out of the cellar.

Got any more hopes you'd like to share with the group??? Small sample, but this is a great one for one...

The Cubs are putting another whipping on the Orioles as they move to pin down a sweep of that series.

Despite all their trouble, they are only three games out of the wildcard. This will be a very interesting couple weeks for Chicago as it relates to the trade deadline.
