By the way, in regards to game threads, they are up for grabs. I usually create them in the morning but if you come here and don't see one, create one if it suits your fancy. Thanks!

It's 2024 and I'm honestly kind of over the concept that the time honored baseball tradition of purposefully throwing a potentially dangerous object at someone at speeds of 90-100 MPH because you're upset about something they did, an act which would meet the legal definition of attempted assault in most jurisdictions, needs to continue to be a part of the game.

Yeah. Rough justice. But maybe that settles the matter and we move on.

I've seen it and I've seen some minor league footage. That's why I don't get what he has thrown with us.

I would imagine it has a lot to do with being stretched out as a starter and it being cold and early in the season. I'll wait a little bit to be too concerned.

I guess you're not wrong. Lets see how he's doing a month from now.

Turang is a hole in the lineup. Ortiz is as good a defender as Turang and a far far better hitter. I just don't understand the need to start one of the worst hitters in baseball every game. Ortiz has real potential to be a profuctive starter. I wish they'd give him a chance.

I will say Turang has one of the slowest bats I have ever seen at this level. If he hits 250 it will be a miracle.

Thanks, Brock! You're the man!

I love that about half of the Brewers position players are a threat to steal bases/take extra bases. (hitting homer would be fun too, but if we can't have that, stolen bases are at least a plus)

Pat Murphy is a wise coach i the way he handles things. Counsel would wine to the umpires, Murphy surprises me at just how good of a coach he is.

He's been doing this a good long time.

Lots of respect for Stearns. That said he left a better team for a richer one. That's what I see so far.

He makes a lot more good decisions than bad decisions in a sport that's pretty dicey. He'll get the Mets turned around.

Remember when people were freaking out over the Hunter Renfroe trade....

This made me look at that whole trade sequence (coming and going):

2022 Trade for Renfroe:

  • Out: Alex Binelas: did well at A+, but a bit of struggle at AA.  Not on Boston's top 30 prospect list.
  • Out: David Hamilton: Ranked #22 on Boston's top 30.  Got a cup of coffee last year with Boston at age 26.
  • Out: Bradley Jr: 2022: -0.5 WAR and 58 OPS+
  • In: Renfroe: 2022: 2.6 WAR and 124 OPS+

2023 Trade away Renfroe:

  • Out: Renfroe: 2023 -0.6 WAR and 91 OPS+; LAA waived him partway through the season.
  • In: Janson Junk: Mainly starter depth.  7IP last year with under 5ERA. 28 years old.
  • In: Elvis Peguero: 2023 - 1.0 WAR and 128 ERA+ in 61+ IP
  • Adam Seminaris: Reached AAA with poor results as starter depth.  25 years old.

Kind of interesting how we made nabbed Renfroe at the perfect time while giving up minimal (and addition by subtraction with dumping JBJ).

Then dumped him before he bottomed out and turned him into Elvis + SP depth.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."
