By the way, in regards to game threads, they are up for grabs. I usually create them in the morning but if you come here and don't see one, create one if it suits your fancy. Thanks!

Ump misses a strike and it costs us a run

Not necessarily.

He gets that strike and the following pitch sequence might be different..

He might not challenge Alonso with a fastball down the middle on 1-2 like he did on 2-1.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

MLB: "Lalalalala I can't hear you...pitch clock? Ghost runner in extras? More blackout restrictions?"

That was an awful call. It wasn't marginal. It was a clear strike. I haven't seen one that bad in a while.

There is something to be said to make the batter stand there and think...

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

12 hits vs 16 hits.  Wow.

Gonna need some innings from Rea tomorrow, couple pen guys probably unavailable tomorrow.

Im not bitter about Counsel leaving but I do know we’re 1.5 up on the scrubs.

We are really going to miss devin these few months.    With the starting staff we have we are really going to need a dominating bullpen to win consistently

thank god they held on today

Winning games 7-6 while wondering if we might run out of pitchers is way more fun than winning games 2-1 and being afraid we're going to get no hit for half the game.

Hook has his work cut out for him with this staff, but we already knew that.

Despite the homer, Uribe is awesome.

About as good as we could have hoped from Hall today. Definitely see the upside.

I'm amazed at Jake Bauers' ability to somehow make the roster of MLB teams for enough time to accumulate 1400+ career plate appearances and collect a couple million dollars despite being wretchedly bad at baseball. So, kudos to him for that.

Post game notes.

1) Holy Hoskins, I love how he has handled himself through the controversy. Hasn't backed down, but hasn't made things worse. Obviously having a day like today makes that easy.

2) Jury is still out on Hall, I was hoping he would be 93-95 not 91-93. Maybe he gains a mph or two as the season goes through.

3) I am done with Bauers through 1 start, nice double in the opener but dont argue a looking 3rd strike when you are 0-4 with 4 k's.

4) Young guys look great, Chourio and Turang especially.

5)Bullpen issue are worrisome, I just don't see Wilson and Milner (Payamps) being as good as last year.

I hate using anything Tony LaRussa said or did as a mindset ... but he said something years ago along the lines of "you play against .500 until August, and then you can look at the standings"

.. and that is the biggest thing this year with our squad and how young it is. We will have hiccups along the way and our final form in September will have, fingers crossed, Devin Williams back along with an acquisition or 2. So until then .. just win games. I don't care if it is 17-11 or 4-1 or 1-0 or whatever. Let the kids grow together and put together winning series.

Great start to the season and if nothing else, this team won't be boring this year. Go Crew.

Lots of obvious positives these 1st two games. I'd like to point out some really nice, and really timely, defensive plays. The pick by Contreras kept a lid on a possible rally yesterday, and an incredible play by Turang in the ninth kept the leadoff man from reaching & kept the screws from tightening a little bit on Uribe. Today, Turang with an overlooked play in the 1st on the low liner that backed up on him a little. Looking at the subsequent ABs that saved a run or two. Looking at what Alvarez did the first time he faced Hall, it might've saved a lot more. Then Yelich makes the throw preventing a leadoff double. Just love the glove work so far.

I liked what I saw from Hall. A lot of close takes that I think he'll get swings on moving forward, and of course the ridiculous HBP in the Alonso AB. Still mucho concerned about the rotation, but after today maybe a touch less so.

Mostly agree except on #5. Payamps and Wilson are due to regress but I think they'll still be good. Too early to tell.

Wish Hoskins would've signed earlier in the off season. It might've kept the Bauers deal from being made. There are probably worse LH bats off the bench if you look around, but I'd rather have someone else in that role & Jace Avina still in the organization.

Doesn't help that Wilson looked bad today.

If you think the Brewers get screwed on ball and strike calls, you should see the pitch that an umpire just called a ball in the Braves Phillies game.

With the bases loaded and two outs Fried through a 2-2 fastball right down the middle to Castellanos and  the ump called it a ball. That was followed by ball four and a single for three undeserved runs and Fried left the game after throwing 40 pitches..

Check out a gamecast picture of that one.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

If you have T-Mobile, don't forget to get your free MLB TV for the entire season. I think you have to do it before tomorrow. You can't watch the Brewers with it unfortunately because it's blacked out for local viewers. You have to watch Ballys.

I get free MLB TV as part of my Brewers 10 pack.

I'd be shocked if he isn't DFAd at some point this season.
