Of course, the smart money says he’s not pitching in 2024. Then again human beings all heal and grow at different rates . If Woodruff was medically cleared to pitch and had time to rehab to build up strength and stamina in the minor leagues you might  see him pitch a few innings for the Brewers in 2024. Both sides would probably be giddy to have him go into the offseason healthy

Keep coming here for good news and am let down with a new Brewer injury. Is it too much to ask for 7-10days without 1 injury?

No injury would be the best news of all, but I’d say Clarke having a non season ending toe injury is better news than a season ending arm injury.

We shall see. I'm sure his toe is connected to his rotator cuff somehow.

Man what a conundrum. Frelick is kind of a bird in hand. He's been getting on base fairly well. Mitchell is more of an unknown. I'm guessing he is going to K at a high rate. Glad I don't make the decisions.

I have to assume Tyler Black is getting sent down.

OF Garrett Mitchell (fractured left index finger)
Expected return
: This weekend
Mitchell's 20-day rehab assignment expires on June 29 and Brewers manager Pat Murphy hinted the outfielder's next stop would be the big leagues, saying the club hadn't discussed optioning him to Triple-A Nashville in order to let Mitchell continue logging at-bats. Mitchell had a scare when he appeared to grab at his left hamstring during a game on June 26, but he was back in the Sounds' lineup the next day.

"We're going to take every precaution," Murphy said, "but he's close." (Last updated: June 28).

I thought it was to good to be true that Mitchell would be in the lineup tomorrow.

So if his rehab is done……doesn’t he have to activated or optioned tomorrow?

Or is there some other way they manipulate this?

But he reinjured himself again and can't play what can a team or player do?  I have no idea what the rules are. Your asking the wrong person with that question.

He’s not reinjured……he played today.

He did? I did not know that.  But I still don't know what's going on unless maybe he is not 100% MLB game ready yet.  Or the Brewers don't feel they need him yet because we are playing pretty good right now.

He played the last couple games, but DHed. I'm no expert on the rules regarding rehab assignments but I smell some sort of manipulation coming.

I doubt Arnold will do it, but he'd likely need to option Mitchell until about August 24th to snatch an extra year. I calculate Mitchell as having accrued 1 year, 134 days of MLB service time thus far, most of it while injured. August 24 - September 29 would give him another 37 MLB days, leaving him 1 day short of 2 years.

I'm also no expert on the rules, but that's my best guess based on the 172 days = 1 season guidance point.
