I got on just in time to see the RBI bunt by Yeli.  GOB SMACKED. Beautiful. Oh yeah!

Marmol has to be gone soon. Cardinals are going through the motions.

You used to count on the birds to play solid defense as part of "fundamental" baseball.

Not now.

What do people think the future holds for Frelick?

Not a starter for Milwaukee.

I am exactly the same size as Altuve … at 63, I’m not is the same shape but we are both 5’6” & 1605 lbs. I need to trim back to 150.

I played through college, but baseball is no longer a small man’s game.

I applaud you in trying to lose 1,455 lbs but please be careful. That's a lot of weight to lose.  Hopefully your working with a doctor.

...and Luis Lara.

I have brought up this concern recently, but no one really agrees with me.

There just aren't a lot of guys little in stature that go on to have big MLB careers.

I mean, Altuve is the obvious exception.

Robert Moore was another guy who was just little.  He's been traded, so I haven't followed him this year.

The hit tool is carrying them so far, but it did for Frelick too (70 grade lol). They are both only with the Rattlers so a long way to go. I want to see how they do in the Southern League and International League with much more competent pitchers. I would bet on Lara rather than O'Rae

So far he looks like a 4th or 5th OFer.

Which sucks. I though his hit tool would make him at least a solid OBP starter in the bottom of the order. Its not looking like it. As he loses speed with age it will only get worse

Ummm yeah, but he also played like absolute trash for two years during that time, so there's that.

Can you say you were never one of those people?

Yeah, I believe I can. I was one of the ones saying it was unlikely he would become Barry Bonds again, but that Marlins/1st half 2018 Yelich was still in him. Which would fulfill a large chunk of his contract value with inflation.

I would also say we have different definitions of "trash". Even in 2021-2022, he still averaged more than 2 bWAR/162, which is above average.

Gasser putting up debut more in line with Freddy.

As I recall (correct me if I'm wrong), Freddy had control issues early in his career. Gasser throws strikes.

He's 24 with 320 career ABs in the majors.  Might be too early to count him out yet.

He could go 5 for the next 10 and be batting .276 so not worried yet. To early.

What a great game so far. Though not sure it counts when the other team starts with a bowler on the mound.

Lance Lynn is fat for a bowler

It's too early to count him out and players can adjust in their second season, but watching him this season, it's not like he's hit into a ton of bad luck. He's just not hitting the ball hard. He's been missing or weakly flying out some really good pitches to hit. He swings through pitches in the upper part of the zone.

I really root for the kid but eh, just not seeing it. He can still turn it around.

0 walks is definitely the most impressive thing about Gasser's start. He should definitely replace Myers.

If Gasser can sustain success in the big leagues, we should be able to ride him pretty far with him having pitched about 140 innings the past two years. Early season injury could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
