What? He's pitching the same....

Freddy Peralta last season: 3.86 ERA/3.85 FIP/88 ERA-/30.9 K%/7.9 BB%

Freddy Peralta this season: 3.61 ERA/3.39 FIP/90 ERA-/32.5 K%/7.9 BB%

Maybe my post should have said:

He’s not pitching as well this season as he did IN THE 2nd HALF of last season

Not a good start from Freddy but getting through 5 IP after going 43 pitches in inning 1 was pretty big for the pen.

Peralta is a good number 2.

4th in K/9, 49th BB/9, 50th HR/9, 51st ERA, 37th xERA, 28th in FIP, 28th fWAR, 25th WHIP, 8th SIERA, 14th Hard%.

Not an ace or 1B type, but a good guy you can rely on most of the times. Even when he stuggles he gives his team a chance to win,

In 12 starts (today included) he has given up more than 3 ER twice.  Averages 5 2/3 IP per game. He is a great pitcher. at least top 40 in the league. Considering there are roughly 150 starting pitchers in the big leagues, that is really good.

We were spoilt with Burnes and Woody as 1A and 1B and Freddy is not them, but lets not undervalue him

I'm just glad we are a handful of games ahead in the NL Central. I think the ledge many would have to be talked down from, would be enormous, otherwise...

Freddy to me has ace level stuff but without the consistency and efficiency of an ace.

Absolutely.

Yeah exactly. His stuff is elite but he doesn't get deep into games. And he also seems to lose his composure too often.

I looked at it earlier this week and since 2021 Freddy has gone 6 IP in under 50% of his starts compared to Burnes and Woodruff both being above 70%. All 3 of these guys have very good stuff, Burnes is a legit ace. Woodruff when healthy is an ace. Freddy just lags behind.

I don't know about that. Personally my expectations coming into the season have been way exceeded.

How is this bullpen going to up all season pitching this many innings.

Williams has zero innings.

Payamps, our second best reliever last year, has 21.0 IP which ties him with Craig Kimbrel for 141st in MLB.

Megill, our de facto closer this year, has 15.0 IP which ranks 213th in MLB.

Enoli Paredes, who has been electric in Nashville and since his call up, has 5 IP (plus 20.2 in AAA).

Milner has 29 IP, but he’s thrown a ton of games (168, 3rd) and innings (158, 10th) going back to 2022 so he might just have a rubber arm like many submariners.

Koenig and Hudson are converted starters that have each topped 100 IP twice in their careers who have been carefully managed and well rested after multi inning appearances this season.

Additionally, they have some depth yet and acquiring a BP arm if needed isn't the hardest thing ever.  I actually think they are well positioned to handle that situation.

I'm really starting to wonder how much control/influence CC had over the hitting philosophy and game planning.

You mean last year? He was manager an had to ok everything. Murphy is really liked by the players, I never heard that once with CC.

Well ,Brewers last year and Cubs this year.  That Cub offense reminds me an awful lot of the Brewer offense from last year.

Murphy can relate better with the players CC has no personality. He always looked stressed.
