Four game losing streak averted for the fifth time this year.

Here’s how the Brewers wins and losses have been distributed around those five three gamers…

10-3 (0-3) 7-2 (0-3) 3-0 (0-3) 16-9 (0-3) 8-4 (0-3) 1-0 so far.

15 of the team’s 33 losses (45.5%) have come while streaking.

Winning streaks have been three games (x3), four games (x3), and five games for 26 of the team’s 45 wins (57,8%) coming via streak.

That leaves them with a record of 19-18 when not in the throes of some streak or another.

Here's a crazy stat. Of the Brewers 11 regulars (not counting bench guys like Monasterio, Dunn, Miller or recently promoted prospects like Black) Brice Turang's .139 ISO is 2nd on the team since the offense started slumping on 5/17 in Houston. We are close to 6 weeks of a teamwide power slump that has Brice Turang as the second best "power" hitter on the team.

Maybe even crazier is that they've still gone 19-16 over that stretch.

The Brewers don't really have an every day power bat.  Hoskins is the closest but he looks like he is still not fully 100% yet from his injury last year and the injury he had this year.

There really is only two good options for some middle of the order power in Alonso and Walker.  Alonso may not even become available as the Mets are now back in the NL WC race.  So that leaves Walker from the Dbacks who are also still in the last WC spot mix.  Maybe the A's will decide to trade Rooker but he is a DH only and that is where Hoskins should be playing when Yelich or Contreras are not at their normal spots.

I don't think the White Sox would make Sheets available but if they did he maybe someone under the radar the Brewers could trade for.  Basically just platoon him with Hoskins at DH and 1B.

Lately the games they are winning they're doing with big innings.

Seemed like earlier the year they were doing a better job of scoring in more innings but maybe not as big of an inning.

Day off for Ortiz

At least Iron Man Frelick is in there.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Somehow that looks to be incorrect by the eyeball test.  All of Frelick’s throws seem to be lower than that.

June OPS for today's OFs: Perkins (.669), Frelick (.557), Chourio (.822).  I knew Chourio has been swinging a hot bat, but not that hot.  Good for him.  Perkins June numbers are inflated due to a really hot start to the month.  The last two weeks, he has a .506 OPS so he has gone cold quickly.  I'm all for trying a Mitchell for Frelick swap and playing Mitchell and Chourio nearly every day.

Of all the teams who should know better than to give up on the season, it's gotta be the DBacks, right? Why would they be sellers in any capacity? It seems really odd for them to consider trading Walker.

I wonder if Murphy has ruined Contreras for the rest of the season.

I keep seeing people saying that. What happend? Playing him too much?
