That would leave them with nearly twice what they spent bonus pool wise on day 3 last year assuming Levonas doesn't sign.

Yeah assuming no Levonas this leaves them $2,500,580 to work with from round 11-20 over $150K

Are the crew better off throwing money at levonas or use to sign group of those day 3 arms

Sounds like the choice is already been made for them.

On the plus side, our Midwest scout has been responsible for Luke Adams, Bishop Letson, and Josh Adamczewski in the last two drafts. No misses.

They went after 6 more midwest high schoolers in rounds 8-20 this year. I’d like to see all of them signed. Surely we can’t catch lightning in a bottle 9 out of 9 times…

Do we think they are not disclosing DeBerry's bonus on purpose as a negotiating tactic with Levonas and the other day 3 signings? DeBerry could be an extreme underslot (like $10k), which would give them another $778k to spend.

I wondered that too, it came out yesterday at $25k however so yeah big underslot there

I tend to believe both the player and agent have agreed upon a number they’ll settle with irregardless but there could be a certain amount of posturing done by teams as well to delay the $’s.

I wish I had a number for you haha, if I did, I would say it. They will have the opportunity to throw $3+ mil at him so maybe that’ll work out. My understanding is more that he’s asking for money they no longer have, and it would take a change in demand for it to even be possible they can sign him (short of going over the 5% overage and losing next years first rounder of course).

Still won’t rule it out, but I think the odds of him signing are less than 5%.

I wonder how the Brewers go about the signing period in the next 2 days then. Do you try and get the kid you really want signed or are you moving on and ensuring you get EVERYONE else signed? Does he accept a late deal? Then what? You giving up on the other hard signs?

Seems like a rare misstep by the Brewers, but at least they have fallbacks. Hoping for a 1 in 20 pleasant surprise the next couple days!

No news yet this week? Perhaps the front office is a little busy with the trade deadline. The draft signing tracker doesn’t seem to be updated either on the site, unless the rumored signing values are not official enough.

I've updated the initial page as we go along if that helps, so just go to the first post in this thread

I'd imagine it'll all depend on Levonas and his offer. There'll probably be a deadline in place and after that the Brewers will direct that cash towards the Day 3 picks

Cool, thank you. Interesting there are even a couple college picks left too

Yeah, especially Caedmon Parker. I'd imagine those college picks will sign but I guess nothing's guaranteed.

I'd also imagine the Brewers have ideas of numbers for those day 3 guys all sorted out and ready to go should Levonas not sign, so they'll not just be twiddling their thumbs but yeah.

Spencer has left me a lil down on him signing at this point so trying to stay excited about Broughton instead

There is a chance both are slightly above slot. Even without the Levonas drama, I don’t think any of the above slot day 3 deals were announced before signing day last year.

Only one worth getting excited for is Nunnallee. Broughton isn't in the same stratosphere of prospect.

But Broughton is rated higher than Letson was everywhere but MLB.com (who we don't seem to care about). I'll take another Letson or two.

Malamazian also gives off huge Adamczewski vibes.

I'll take everyone 11-20, gladly.

Seems like they've admitted defeat on some HS picks past round 10, but that might hint that Levonas is closer?

Perhaps loking too into it, but if the likes of Nunnallee and others are the ones out it suggests they have that money tied up elsewhere.. either way seems like we're likely to know more today!

If true, it sucks that we used up a relatively high pick on a guy who won’t sign. I wonder what went on behind the scenes- did we draft him without being reasonably sure that he’d sign, or did he change his mind?

From what we've heard previously in the thread, we knew it would be a tough / impossible sign. We knew we'd have a ton of money available and thought we could influence that.

We will get the same pick next year, it's not a total loss. Just pushing the pick back a year.

I wasn't aware that applied to CBs as well. that lowers the risk and next year they will get CB A and B picks then.
