This was from before last nights win…….😎

It’s like a therapy session…….lol……I particularly enjoyed his comments on the 2 franchises since Arenado and Goldy became teammates……I remember some gloom and doom here when they acquired Arenado…..

They seem to be souring on the “ Cardinal way”

Could we find out what Chis Carpenter thinks about all this? Surely he could make sense of it all?

The thing I like the most as how he builds up his admiration for the Brewers and his disgust with the Cardinals as the podcast goes on…….its like a slow simmer that turns into a raging boil!

Not quite enough of a raging boil for me.  He remained coherent and succinct. I was hoping for a cussing rant like that cub guy someone posted here after Adames faked out Bellinger.  That was comedy gold.  However, it's still nice to see the cards in anguish.

Project much?

It's not too hard to see that in his old age, he has gone off the rails a bit.  Not focusing on his political affiliation, it doesn't matter which side he backs, his behavior the past couple of years has been whacko.  If he was a republican acting like that, still whacko.  The fact that he is a democrat has no bearing on the fact that he is not quite right in the head.

This sounds like he's talking Moneyball. Goldy and Arenado are/were great baseball players, but are/were they worth 20 times more money than the guys we have? Not by a long shot.

In the not-too-distant past, it seemed like pitchers AND hitters would go to St. Louis and get better. Free agents, washed up players, young players, etc.

I feel like that has completely shifted. The Brewers have been getting way more out of even their marginal bats and arms, and made mediocre pitchers look better than average. The Brewers are doing it and the Cardinals are not. That brings a smile to my face. I think the organization (Cards) is in big trouble and could be looking at a massive overhaul.

It was all Yadi Molina, the whole time. Now that he’s retired they are just another team.

But how will he explain this to his son?

Hopefully while wearing a Brewer's cap.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

It really shouldn’t be a surprise. For 20+ years the Cardinals had HOF players and other terrific ball players in their line up every year. Now, their noteworthy players are all old and the the youngsters they had hoped for Tyler O’Neill, Dylan Carlson, Hicks, Hudson weren’t good enough; and their next crop of young bucks haven’t been good either: Gorman, Walker and Liberatore.

Not having unlimited payroll it is the gamble they took giving out the huge guarantees to land Goldschmidt and Arenado in the first place, and their GM seemingly made it worse handing out guarantees to Matz, Mikolas, Contreras, in an effort to keep the ship afloat

Let that number sink in for a sec. Twenty times more money.

It sounds ludicrous when you say it out loud. For all the talk of collusion and whatnot when free agency rolls around, it would not be weird if teams simply started realizing, "yeah, that guy's simply not worth 20 times more money than this minor leaguer."

I suspect that it will start happening a lot more often where guys get 3 years at $15M, instead of the 6 for $20M that the same type of player got 5 years ago.

Also Albert Pujols was another reason.  It's all business all the time with those two.
