The Astros were gifted a postseason birth in the weakest division in baseball. Would love to see them sent packing in 2.

The difference in offense between these lineups is pretty stark, but with Skubal you assume you'll win that game (if not, you're definitely in trouble), so Detroit just needs to find a way to steal one of the next two.

Skubal’s dad is the principal at my school.  We’ve had plenty of interesting conversations about baseball and players from Tarik has told him.

Tarik is a pretty nice guy, too.

Lots of empty seats in both Houston and Baltimore. So there just doesn't seem to be much fan interest in the Wild Card series, or at least for weekday afternoon games.

All road teams win Game 1 with the exception of the Padres. Will be interesting to see what teams can force a game 3.

Burnes went 8IP 1ER and lost

Wow sure he's not still on the Brewers? :) Good to see him pitch well in the Playoffs at least.

IMO home field/court/ice advantage means the least in baseball. Just too slow moving a game.

In the current playoff format since 2022, teams are 1-9 after going down 1-0 in the series.

But game 1s are not must win games.

Loving this Royals team. They've been my second-favorite since the early LoCain days, and it's great to see Salvy having such a great year.

I like the Orioles too. Baltimore's had a hard enough time as a city, it's tough to want bad things for them. Safe to say I'll be rooting for whoever wins this against the Yankees. Royals are closest thing to small-market solidarity, though, and Bobby Witt has been awesome today. Legging out hits and making key defensive plays. Fun team.

With two higher seeds already swept out of the playoffs in the first round and the Brewers as of this moment in jeopardy of following suit after doing so last year, I think MLB will reconsider the current playoff format. I have a hard time believing they're not bothered by seeing the better teams going home early.
