The Brewers won't have money for a free agent and Morel shouldn't cost a ton.  He's been a utility player and could be lightening in a bottle. Plus, he is right handed power.  I know, he strikes out a ton and didn't hit for average in 2024.  He is still young.

Turang- 2B

Chourio- LF

Yelich- DH

Contreras- C

Mitchell- CF

Morel- 3B

Hoskins- 1B

Ortiz- SS

Frelick- RF

Bench: Black (DH, 1B, 3B)  Montesario (2B, SS), Haase (C), Perkins (OF)

I know one of those ex Cardinals infielder utility types of the last 10 years has a house in central/northern WI and spends a bunch of time there. Due to family, his wife's family, or maybe just being an outdoors guy and having played up there in minors or something.   They are all so similar and I do mix up which is which, but I'm fairly confident it is Dejong.   If I'm correct, he probably would be one calling MKE up looking at it as a fit.  Sure he's not anything special, but a cheap one year deal he's a perfectly competent MLB player

I'm pretty sure DeJong's wife is from Wisconsin, so I agree he may have interest in the Brewers. No idea if it would be mutual, but you can connect the dots pretty easily...

No, there are a bunch of better trade candidates on the Rays to fill in the 3B/2B or Bauers spot. Brandon Lowe, Curtis Mead, Jonathan Aranda, Jose Cabellero, Austin Shenton, or even Yandy Diaz.

A guy like DeJong makes sense.  Good pop and only 31.   He could be a good bridge until hopefully Pratt and Made get here (hopefully) over the next 2-3 years.

Boeve may be MLB ready by mid-year too to split PT.

I hope Tyler Black gets more of a chance as a DH or Swiss Army knife.

Now that Jackson, Sal, Garrett and Brice have gotten their feet wet, maybe they can all take a step forward as their comfort levels increase.  That could offset the delta between Adames and a guy like DeJong.

With Yoho coming up, I think we can withstand trading Devin.

Not a freaking chance, the guy sucks, sucks hard.  He's a K machine and a hack at 3B.

Nope.

You won't believe this, but DeJong has reverse splits for his career.

Then he must be a brewer target once they realize that.

i wouldn’t get Morel, who is a bad 3B, but the Rays do make sense as a trade partner with their IF depth. Plus, justbaseball.com ranked the Rays as the best MiLB infield depth. I know he’s injury prone, but Brandon Lowe makes a lot of sense as a target. The Rays will likely look to trade him and the Brewers need hitting. He would indirectly replace the offense lost by Adames leaving. I think it would mean Turang to SS but Lowe has played some 1B/corner OF too

Lowe makes a lot of sense in the hitting, likely availability, and cost departments, but between age, injury history, and never really being a great defender to begin with I’m not sure the Brewers would view him as an everyday 2B.

Think it’d be more of a super sub type role where he maybe plays like 30-40 games each at DH, 1B, and 2B.

I believe that the Rays and the Brewers have an unstated symbiotic partnership. They are in opposing leagues, opposing coasts. They trust each other's development. I think this is how they swung the Rasmussen/Adames trade.

But I think the Rays hold onto Lowe. I think that they think they're gunna compete next season with that healthy rotation.

Lowe would certainly help the Adames-sized hole on the infield, though.

Non-tender Bauers and go get Brandon Lowe and Paul DeJong.  Somehow, those guys could/should easily replace Adames' IF power and shouldn't cost too much.
