My God.

Retroactive to what, yesterday the 30th? So able to come off on the 10th of August? Let's hope that's all it is.

should have traded him when we had the chance

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Could this day get any worse?

Well, the Reds could come back from an 8 run deficit, sparked by a 3 run HR from one of their deadline acquisitions, to show that they consider themselves playoff contenders.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

This makes the lockridge pickup make sense, easy to cut him loose once Jackson is back. When I heard the name, I would have preferred someone that was didn’t have to be on the 40.

Lockridge will (hopefully) barely play.

More Perkins, more Yelich in the field.

Very exciting to have a bench consisting of the backup catcher and 3 guys that you never want to see at the plate in a key situation.

Well if you were going to put him on the DL this is probably the best time to do it, going against a Nats team that sold off some of their assets and then a Braves teams down Acuna.  Have him healthy for the Mets series.

Unless I am counting wrong, even if Chourio is physically able to play, he couldn’t come back until the second game of the Mets series. And, of course, with hamstring injuries there is no guarantee he’ll be ready to play by then.

Hopefully the players will take the lack of deadline moves as a vote of confidence and not as an indication that the front office isn’t willing to help them out. We don’t need a post deadline swoon like the one in 2022 that sent the Brewers from a 4 game lead in the division to a seat on the sidelines for the playoffs

Exactly what I’ve been thinking….reminds me of 2022.  Hoping players think management views them as strong players and not as over achievers bound for a wild card playoff on the road and not worth giving up ANYTHING of future value for the here and now.

Enormous difference between a small trade to help the bullpen and trading away your all star closer.

Officially now, as expected:

Maybe give lockridge a chance before the whining and complaining looks like a Blake Perkins type great defense speed and gap power  played with Durbin and siegler  with the Yankees so he has guys he knows here .

I do wish Arnold and Murphy could be a little more consistent with their messaging. Yesterday Arnold says we are being cautious and he won’t be out long……today Murphy says this.

The Brewers made three deadline moves - Jansen, Miller, and Lockridge.

I'd say the nature of the Brewers moves these last couple days showed both confidence in the players on hand and a desire to supplement them around the margins.
