As I mentioned in the game thread the day this happened, updates that occur for injuries that happen right before the trade deadline seem to be cloaked in even more mystery than they normally are. Spasms seemed to be a vague & convenient way not to tip your hand or show potential spots of roster weakness when you're about to enter hours worth of negotiations with other teams. Seemed optimistic at the time and I don't think we're learning anything today that they didn't immediately suspect.

I do wish Arnold and Murphy could be a little more consistent with their messaging. Yesterday Arnold says we are being cautious and he won’t be out long……today Murphy says this.

Yeah, the trickle-truthing is getting tired. Just say how bad it really is. I expect in a week they'll say he'll be out for the year.

Has any organization, in any sport, ever been completely honest regarding injuries to players? There is no competitive advantage to letting everybody know the full extent of the injuries and, unfortunately, we as fans don’t really have a right to know either.

I’m not hung up.on knowing everything…….but I do find it irritating when the GM says one thing yesterday and the manager says something completely different today.

There is no advantage being gained with this……if Arnold is right then Murphy is exaggerating the injury……..if Murphy is right then Arnold was spinning last night.

Either way it is what it is……I just prefer leadership to be on the same page……especially with something like injuries to key players.

I don’t disagree with wanting them to be on the same page… although yesterday was the trade deadline, so there is likely some gamesmanship going on with Arnold yesterday and possible advantage to be gained by not fully revealing their hand.

I was more questioning the ‘being tired of not being told how severe the injury is’ that HarryDoyle was discussing.

It was after the trade deadline passed when he made the comments

I imagine he got an MRI right away, just like Sal did. I don't really get why there's not an equivalent diagnosis, but the good news is there are 60 days+ until the playoffs, and you just hope he's is ready in 30 or 45.

It could also be yesterday they believed it wasn’t as serious but new evidence today states otherwise.  Things can change between one day to the next.

That's one heckuva spasm he had.

Did he sneeze and break a rib? Maybe drop a suitcase on his hand. Fall into a glass table after a nightmare

reminds me so much of uthe NHL (lower body/upper body) crap. Both Arnold, Murphy and their medical staff have a good idea of an approximate length of time he’ll be out. This type of gamesmanship is not necessary and shows poorly on the Brewer’s FO and their true feeling regarding their fans. Both the NFL and the NBA are professional and come right out and inform press and fans the approximate length the injury will take to heal without any negative effect of giving any information away that might be used by other teams.

This reminds me of the crap the NHL pulls on their fan base when they report injuries (lower body/upper body). What advantage do they have keeping secret the length of time a player will be out with any long term injury. It demonstrates a lack of respect of their fanbase not letting them know what is happening by not being transparent regarding information that will not competitively hurt them. It is common practice of NFL and NBA teams being upfront when reporting their player’s injuries.

I'm not sure about the NBA being completely up front.  There are times where players could have played through injuries but chose not to for the benefit of the entire season.  LeBron and Giannis had done this recently.

I was always wondering how HIPAA plays into this.  From what I understand, there are exceptions to HIPAA related to professional athletes.  Maybe I need to go to LawyerGPT to find out.  😉

I'm viewing it as thinking of the season as a whole and trusting the players you have.  Fortunately, the Brewers are playing one of the worst teams in the league, so forcing Chourio to sit for a bit (and resting Sal, too) wouldn't be too detrimental.  It also gives the staff an opportunity to those who don't play much to actually play.  Fortunately they have backup players that are playing in their regular position (I am still bitter about Bauers being a sieve in Left Field at one of the games I attended).

My hope is that this doesn't put them into some type of tailspin.  If they do, then I'll certainly criticize them for poor management.  For now, though, continue to rake, push bunt to the second baseman, and get runners on base.  Make the pitchers uncomfortable.

Go Crew!

Sneezing is no joke.  I pulled a rib muscle after a workout when I sneezed.  One of the worst pains in my life.  This was also in HS when I had no idea on how to actually workout and train.  I wish I had YouTube then.

Lighten up Francis. It was pretty clearly a joke.

With some of the back and forth that goes on here I don't think it was that clear, but carry on then.
