Shaming a guy for chasing the bag is so laughable lol. Nobody on the planet turns down $8mm a year in their 50s to be a manager.

My ONLY gripe with CC was the nonsense about "resetting the bar" or whatever for managers. Dude you wanted money. Just say it. It's fine.

The part I didn't like was acting surprised when everyone in Wisconsin got upset about going to the Cubs. You don't defect to a rival and expect to return home to cheers. You could have gone to like 5 other interested teams, still gotten paid, and returned home to a standing ovation.

In the meantime, Counsell left Horton in too long after his blister/nail was clearly a problem.

Would have been a bit hit, but getting to the BP in the second inning is almost as big a hit

Wonder if Perk’s head is right after a death in the family. My wife commented before his leave that he looked depressed.. I told her he’s an even keel type guy. When the bereavement leave happened, she gave me a “told ya so”. He still looks down a bit.

I'm guessing Cubs will call game two if it rains at all. Lol

CC: It's raining in the outfield

Umps:  No Craig, those are just cub tears

He could've gotten the bag any number of places.    He certainly has the right to make his own decision, but he can expect some flak when he picks the team's biggest rival.

Jansen really does bring nothing to the table.

Our backup catcher doesn’t play enough to justify giving up a prospect for him.  Hopefully the power comes through in the postseason, one pinch hit HR in the postseason would make it worth it I guess.

Probably true, but in Chicago he could get the $ he wanted and still be geographically close to his home.

Its fine.  I don't feel sorry for him when he gets grief, especially when he's caught straight up lying, but whatever.  He's gone.  And the Brewers are massively fun to watch, so while mocking him after Cubs losses is still fun for me I mostly don't care.

I don't think that's true. That was an insane contract and the number of places hiring that were also willing to pay it was limited. But even if it were true, it's Chicago. He barely has to leave. His kids don't have to switch schools, none of that headache has to happen.

It was a no brainer for him to leave. I personally think it's pretty childish to begrudge a guy for doing what he did. I can't really personally comprehend getting upset at some coach in his 50s for not coaching my favorite team. Lightheaded ribbing is expected and fine, but actually getting bent out of shape about it or still whining about it 2 years later when we appear to have benefitted from his departure? Who cares.

I do enjoy the fact that part of the reason he left was because Chicago has more financial resources to build teams with and yet they've mostly sat on those resources and have struggled to catch the Brewers in the standings.
