Averted nuclear disaster series.   I wouldn’t mess around tonight.   I think the weather is supposed to be bad.   Just call it for tomorrow if it starts raining.   None of this play two innings crap

Totally agree.

The decision to postpone the game tonight was likely made by the Cubs as soon as they lost their starter in the 3rd inning. Just waiting to announce it.

How are these decisions made? I honestly don’t know. Do the umpires have any say or is it singularly the home team front office?

I still would like clarity on the 27th player rule of anyone knows it..

If Chad Patrick starts tonight and we get five innings in and then postpone the game, can we bring up another pitcher to finish the game tomorrow as a part of another double header? Or can we not use two separate guys with that 27th man rule to play in the same game?

I think they can get it in

Surprised they haven't postponed the rest of the series already.

Maybe they're secretly hoping for a tornado to hit only the stadium and only damage the stadium

If tonight's game gets postponed, I expect the Cubs to move the DH to Wednesday. That does maximum screwage to the Brewers rotation with Miz slated to go that day for probably a shortish outing. Woodruff is supposed to go tomorrow - we couldn't have Patrick go instead because he's the 27th guy and could only pitch during a DH day. If the Cubs do try to do this, they could put Anderson down again to keep Patrick up for tomorrow, and then go Woodruff/Miz on Wednesday.

Decisions and gamesmanship...

A friend of mine lives in the western suburbs near Dundee, and said shortly after game 1 ended the tornado sirens went off in their area. Unless they went off due to their being nine games back. I dunno.

Dillard got off a great one late in the game today. There was mention of maybe calling off the nightcap & he said something like "But when would they reschedule it? In three years?"

Let's get all five games in this week. Gotta kick 'em while they're down and we're red hot.

I don't know the current plans for Henderson but I believe he is eligible either tomorrow or the following day to come off of the IL. If they try to give us a doubleheader Wednesday I would rather throw Henderson and Woodruff and have Miz be a multi-inning guy out of the bullpen or something like that?

Henderson's not close to returning from what's been reported. Late September/early October is what I saw.

Firing CC would end our fun. Let them be just good enough to keep him around for another year.

I'll say it...

Freddy Peralta = ace

(Even if just for today)

Losing it like he did for 3-4 hitters then snapping right back is certainly worthy of some major maturity points. He's never screamed 'ace' to me but deserves major props. Next step (if he can attain it) is to make the 0-2, 1-2 pitches look more inviting to hitters w/o actually leaving them in the zone. That can be really tough to do. If he can then IMO it's lights out.

He DOES do that sometimes with the FB just above the zone.

I looked up,the rule and am having trouble pasting it. But, here’s how I would interpret it.
If the game is suspended and resumed tomorrow, that is not a doubleheader day. It’s a resumption of a suspended game followed by the regularly scheduled game.

So, Patrick would be on the roster for the suspended game.

But the rule also allows teams to add a 27th player for the regularly scheduled game, so Patrick would be returned to the minors after completion of the suspended game and a 27th player (presumably someone other than Patrick) could be added.
