Not liking that our playoff hopes rely on the offense getting out of a terrible drought and four guys who might be thrown into the playoffs when they would be on minor league rehab assignment if it were the regular season.

On the bright side we're not the Tigers or Astros, who might be fighting for the last wild card spot in the AL if the Tigers can't reclaim the 15.5 game division lead they lost.

We could score ten runs every game for the next four games and still look terrible in the playoffs.    We could look like crap now and still win in the playoffs.    I don’t think these games portend anything.    The only thing that matters is who is the next person to get hurt and be out of the playoffs

woodruff going down was way more significant than Chourio not getting a hit for 3 games Or whatever

It was obvious that Zimmerman would be 1 and done after they used him as a starter last night. They at least have an open 40 man spot for Henderson should they wish to add him to a playoff roster.

rodriguez potentially offers more length than McGee so I guess that makes sense with Patrick going on 3 days rest today and Myers pitching last night.

The biggest comfort is that the Brewers, the Dodgers, and the Phillies all lost yesterday and are currently on short losing streaks, respectively, at 3, 3, and 2 games. It's not just us.

Collins is slumping, but they need to get him going again.  Unless he's dealing with an injury, he's sitting too much.

Like I said yesterday, he can't get anything going from the bench, and there has been no mention of injury.

Bauers in LF.

This is just how it's going to be isn't it?

Murphy feels obligated for some reason to play this guy every day, completely ignoring Hoskins, who we might just need at some point, to get a big hit.  There is no way he will be able to help us out with practically zero at bats in forever.

I am BOOOOOOOing Murphy right now...

Never been a Bauers fan but he has been their best hitter in September when everybody else seems to be slumping. Should be able to find more at bats for Hoskins to get him going but will give credit to Bauers for earning the playing time.

I agree Hoskins needs ABs to get right, but he's looked almost Ortiz-like at the plate in the chances he's had.

I’ve been about the biggest critic of Bauers on the board but who else is hitting right now? The offense isn’t clicking at all and no one else is really even making much of a case for regular ABs.

The very interesting article about Ortiz on this site is so simple and exactly what I've been saying. You cannot afford to play a defense first player if nobody else is hitting. It was refreshing to read common sense. Play the best players at this point. Stop hoping the guy is going to suddenly find it. He's been horrible from game 1 to game 155. Hoping this is the day.

0 for 4 with RISP already. Just another day at the office for the Brewer offense.

Another runner stranded by Ortiz.

Oops.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
