The massive dropoff over past three weeks is a problem. Team was clearly tired and needed a collective rest, but there is no switch you can turn off and then on again. It's not just Durbin, the entire team, with maybe the exception of Vaughn, has been struggling to hit. And then we have the lineup tweaks such as Yeli in the leadoff spot. I have a nagging feeling Murphy thinks that is a good thing, though I honestly have no clue what he sees in it. I just want it to stop.

Enough with Yeli in the leadoff spot.

He had success in the 3/4 all season.

What an incomprehensible time to start tinkering with every routine.

There is just no fight in this team right now. Imagine being the Mets and having to root for this floundering team.. it would be maddening.

I'm sure Stearns is like come on guys. Jeez

That’s the silver lining at the moment. I’ll shed no tears for the Mets.

What's incredible is he's not yet been asked why it happened.

Ok who am I thinking of……

I thought the Brewers drafted a hitter named Nick Martinez that became a pitcher. (After not making mlb as a Brewer) Thought it was this guy but it isn’t. Not finding any other Nick Martinez’s

Nick Ramirez

Oh so hard...  Think he'll ask his kids a cringe question tonight in the post game to help deflect any questions?

There aren't many teams that would have given Ortiz 500 ab this year. It's pretty remarkable given he's been one of the worst offensive players in the league.

Do you know what the league norm is for #9 hitters?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Trace the gall of this season to the return of Bauers. Soon as he came back Murphy started messing with things. What's the record since he came back?

I know he has been good in September.

But.

The Brewers are like 30 games over .500 this year with Jake Bauers on IL.

And like .500 with him healthy.

Clearly, he is not some essential thread to the roster chemistry.

Cool, they get to celebrate on our field.  Glad we could help.

If they’re doing that, hopefully someone made them aware that they’ve still likely got to win tomorrow.

I very much want to be wrong. But I can't see how sloughing off and backing into the prime playoff spot will help this team avoid another quick exit from the postseason.  When are we supposed to turn on this imaginary switch to get us towards the World Series?
Yeah, that 14 game winning streak was awesome. But is that all there is?

I don't think that will be an issue for the "we have nothing to play for" lineup we roll out there tomorrow.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Yeah, not that I really care much about getting the franchise record for wins, but losing 7 of 9 to finish the season doesn’t inspire much confidence.

They’re fortunate that their July run built them such a huge cushion. This was the definition of backing into the 1 seed.

Why can't he?  The grueling part of the season is over.  I see no reason why Yelich couldn't play a full series in the playoffs in LF.

However, I am not on the Bauers train.  He is who he is, and the week between now and the playoffs will probably turn him into the pumpkin we know he really is.

There are no trains right now.  We have who we have.  And he's more productive with the bat than the alternatives imo.  He had a PH RBI tonight.

Being the #1 seed in all of baseball is really cool but man we stink right now.  Offense stinks.  Defensive miscues left and right.  Pitching has been just ok.  I mean, maybe we all of a sudden turn it all back on in a week but I'm not exactly confident in that right now.

I mean, we could turn it around in the playoffs. We could.

But let’s be honest, neither the Cubs nor Padres have any fear of this facing this ballclub.

Makes a ton of sense to bring in a guy that struggles to throw strikes into a game with the bases loaded.

You also wanna let him 'audition' for a spot on the playoff roster too though, because there might be a situation come playoff time you need him to come in a similar spot and get a key strikeout or two.

This is on Murph. You don’t put Miz in that situation. Just let Gasser finish it. Idiotic.

Nah, Gasser was allowing a lot of base runners and his pitch count was getting up there, and with the righty due up, bringing in Misiorowski was the right call.

Someone remind me. Has Collins played a lot of LF this year? Because it looks like this is his first time.

yes.

and at one point, advanced metrics loved his LF defense. Not sure if that's still the case.

Good thing Yelich made an out and moved that runner over, Pierzynski.  DEEEEEEERRRRRP

not sure what was wrong with that, facing a tough lefty, i'll take that result from Yelich.
