Reds at Brewers; Sunday, September 28 @ 2:10 p.m.: Freddy Peralta (2.68 ERA, 3.62 FIP) vs. Brady Singer (3.95 ERA, 3.93 FIP)

Some of those pitches from the hand of Singer's will turn into Dingers!

They will be Stingers -- this Reds loss with a Mets win will be a sting that Lingers!

Freddy's pitches will be the Reds misery and the hitters mystery

RESULT:

Best record in Brewers history!

On the one hand, the Brewers will have the #1 seed as long as they are active in the postseason.

On the other hand, they've been pretty bad for most of the year.

Started 21 W - 25 L, will end either 19 W - 21 L or 18 W - 22 L pending today's result.

That's 86 games bookending the season where they played to about the same level as two of this year's bigger disappointments in the Braves and Orioles with matching .466 winning percentages.

As someone who wasn't old enough to be aware of 1982 when it was happening I'd probably put my top Brewers memories as...

01. the run to end 2018, going to Wrigley for Game 163, coming up one game short of the WS

02. everything post-Sabathia in 2008, getting that first taste of how electric the city can be for playoff baseball

03. those 76 games in the middle of this season.

Hopefully a month and change from now there's a new number one.

Sundays have any autograph opportunities?

Sundays are Pocket Pancake Sundays at the ballpark, available at the first base and third base wards. Have you heard about Pocket Pancakes  ? 🙂

Hopefully they can eat the entire apple and not just take a measly bite this time.

Kind of puts into perspective just how crazy good those middle 76 games were.

I'm not really sure who the real Brewers are, but one good sign is they've played their best baseball against the year's best teams. The bad news is the exception to that might be the Cubs/Padres, who they're now assured of playing in round two.

Still.

I suppose there are things to recommend that, as opposed to the (found themselves again) Dodgers or the scorching Reds (who will be even more scorching if they beat LA in the WC round)/Mets (though I'd take the Mets if I got to pick my playoff opponent).

Let's rest up and play these 11 to 19 games just like the middle 76.

Except, like the overall schedule, this really isn't true anymore.  Series loss to the Reds, Padres, Rangers and Phillies this month alone.

In other words they have been very streaky this season. After today they will have 6 days to heal and reboot.

Last game of a ridiculously successful regular season.    I don’t know if we will ever see the Milwaukee brewers finish with the best record ever again.

I couldn't care less if they won 86 games and actually did back into the playoffs.  What I care about is them getting there and not laying a complete egg.  Win a series or two in the playoffs.  That's what matters.

The MLB does its best to ensure this doesn't happen!

That's for sure!

Fedde DFA, Rodriguez optioned, Megill and Hall reinstated.

I think DFAing Fedde is a dumb move. He ois mediocre at best but losing depth is never good. Should have optioned Patrick.

I think they did the exact same thing with Eric Haase last season.

To be honest pro sports does its best to mitigate free markets.    Anyone who follows college sports that last few years and sees what absolute chaos a real free market does to sports leagues would lose their minds if this happened in mlb nba nfl leagues.    Just thank god that a team like Milwaukee can still have the best record in baseball

just imagine if any baseball player can leave at anytime to any team at any point in the season to the highest bidder with no rules in place.  Or there was no draft and anyone can just go where they want

believe me.  It can be a lot worse than what it is.     A ******* helluva lot worse.    Sometimes people should just leave stuff alone.

That's a horrible argument, it could be a helluva lot better too.

It could always be better than what we have now, and to just accept the fact that odds are always stacked against small market teams in MLB is shortsighted.

Disagree with Cotroneo and you. Unnecessary move. I usually think the team is savvy these things but this feels like trying to hard

The pendulum will not swing that way.  It just won’t.     Maybe with collective bargaining you might get your wish.    But it just won’t happen

The only thing this means is that he won’t pitch today……..which he wasn’t going to do anyways…….their is no downside to this……assuming they want him on the playoff roster…….which we will find out later.
