Well we are down to only four top 100 guys on BA after Pratt’s graduation (with one of them being Lara).

Only Made, Pena, and Adamczewski once Lara graduates.

Surprise surprise. I missed this but Roboscout (August 2nd) pegged the top player in the DSL, *not Angeibel Gomez nor Yostin Pena of the yankees, it was Ricki Moneys with a 100 on the Roboscale (0-100)

"Moneys has a barrel rate of 29%—the 13th-highest mark amongst all 2,090 minor leaguers with at least 100 at bats. That’s 99th percentile."

I think they sign under the radar or projectable types and not big money (usually) for pitchers and sees who sticks. But the past 2-3 years seems a little more pitching in the top 10 bonus payments

Yeah, it's certainly exciting. It seems like such a shot in the dark to find a position prospect, but pitching is even more so a longshot. Just long kids with loose arms who are good athletes and get as many as you can and don't count on any one in a class seems like the best way to go.

I'm actually curious right now, if you could trade Made for Kade Anderson or Seth Hernandez(just to compare top position prospects to top pitching prospects) which sides say no. I'd think they'd all take Made, but if this was last year and Made was #3 or when Chourio was the #2/3 prospect?

Based on the latest attempt at prospect valuation over at FanGraphs a 65FV hitter like Made has $95M in expected surplus value versus 60FV pitchers like Anderson or Hernandez coming in at $70M.

If one believes Anderson or Hernandez are in fact 65FV worthy then the numbers at FG come out even at $95M in expected surplus value.

Think most teams would take Made over Anderson or Hernandez on account of the added pitcher injury risk, which the current evals at FG account for with Anderson and Hernandez half a grade lower.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I actually think most would take Anderson. He's a potential ace that doesn't strictly rely on overpowering batters, though he's got a great fastball. But his arsenal, his command, all of it coming from the left side...I don't see a potential bust here. I think he's a frontline guy as soon as he steps into a Mariners uniform.

Also, I'm going to go ahead and casually contest: Tayden Hall is not going into coaching after this season. He is just starting to tap into what he might become at the dish. Great attitude. Great teammate. Only starting to sniff his true potential.

Lance Brozdowski did a nice little write up of Josh Knoth on his substack today. He thinks Knoth if he keeps it up could surpass both Letson and Hardin as our best pitching prospect. It's an interesting profile because he's not like the pitchers we currently have in our rotation. His FB spin efficiency is really low giving it more of a cut/ride shape. Lance said it's similar to Kyle Bradish and Sonny Gray and pitchers like that typically can hold velo on their breaking pitches really well.

MLB Pipeline now has Brady Ebel at #5 on the Brewers top 30 and #99 overall.  Strosnider and Trey Ebel slot in at #17 and #18 respectively.

Agreed.  Brady that high is a bit of a surprise.  Other surprises are jose Rodriguez at 22 and brailyn antunez at 30.  I would have swapped those two.also, no 2026 draft pick was slotted higher than 17.  I can't remember a deeper system we have had.

I like the mlb pipeline setup and ease of information, however the end of the lists 20-30 often have some headscratchers. Jose Rodriguez over Leanders Matos doesn't make sense. I love Cairone but until he shows signs of being back he shouldn't likely be on a top 30.

its the laziness of putting together top 30 lists.
Jose Rodriguez was a 1.2m sign

Frank Cairone was 1.1 m

Matos was 300k

.. guessing they saw brewers pitcher and 1.1 m and just ran the math of it, probably extracted a couple of other details..

I think that both are defensible. Rodriguez was ranked highly coming into the year because of his defensive upside more than his offensive ability. Until his recent slump, he was having a good offensive season, too. Some people were really high on Cairone before the accident. Given the circumstances I have no problem with them essentially holding his place until next season. Both were in the 31-40 range for me, but I don’t view either inclusion as egregious.

not sure laziness, as much as it is difficult to generate a top XX list, even as we do here.  Currently we have a good consensus top 5-6, then about 8-12 players in the next tier who could really be anywhere in that list, then in our system another 15-20 players who are about equal.  I don't know that putting Matos at #27 vs off the list but is likely #35 is that different in the grand scheme.  And pedigree does count a lot.

We see players struggle, but top draft picks and high bonus payment IFA/DSL guys get a lot more leeway in the organization, and scouting sites will also rely on that, as the team clearly valued Rodriguez a lot to give that bonus, and like with Antunez last year, a slower year doesn't mean a lower status in the future. Cairone is a tough one as he would likely be a top 20 prospect based upon pedigree, and he is pitching only 6 months removed from a life-threatening illness, so a lot of variability. But if he is fully back and regains all his prior stuff he could be a top 10-15 talent. But if not, he falls off the list ultimately.

The part that we overlook here (Myself included) is how deep the pool really is.

10 years ago, we could agree on a top 10, the next 10 were fine, and the last 10 were filled with guys who had to be there (top picks, or players have a good season that was maybe a breakout, or those with some tools).. Now even our 15-30 players have tools and production and many with pedigree as well.  No longer is Caden Lemons or Larry Ernesto on a list because of signing bonus despite no/limited production.

I agree it's laziness, they already had profile for Rodriguez for being a top 50 int. and Cairone from when he was a draft pick into the top 30. Just change a paragraph and post.
