I’m seeing Counsell has replaced Busch with Turner to lead off……if that’s right I’m a bit surprised.

It’s not bad counter move.  Turner hits lefties better and they will just pinch hit when a righty comes in.

I’m aware of that……but it eliminates him as an option late in the game in a leverage situation if they do that.

If both teams are taking all 27 outs seriously, I’ll take Ashby against Turner more than Priester against Busch.

Turner has .759 OPS against LHP this season. He does not hit RHP, at all. (.387 OPS)

Interesting. I looked at the footage and came away with a completely different take. He didn’t seem to be favoring the leg at all, but also seemed like he wasn’t trying to push it. I’ll say he plays tomorrow based on that clip.

Yeah, well, I'm not a physical trainer or therapist so your mileage may vary.  I'm surprised he's playing the field.

Greg is salty that he got played in game 1  (i.e., "they don't swing" only to see them jump on early strikes from Boyd and put up 9 runs in two innings.)  I'm completely comfortable for Greg to decide it's time to show everyone how smart he is.

I want no part of Miz if game is tied or we have a lead……..I will be shocked and disappointed if Miz pitches today if the game is close.

Have to say I agree.  He's a guy I'd bring in if they're down and need innings.  If he keeps you close, great.

I know it’s not optimal, but I could totally see Murphy using Miz after Ashby instead of Priester, solely to get him work at home rather than at Wrigley, where he might be more apt to nerves (maybe?)

Or maybe he uses Miz AFTER Priester goes through the lineup once.

I really don’t care and anything I speculate is just for fun; I just want to win the game.  I don’t care how they get there on the mound.

heck, maybe this will all become academic after we jump out to another big lead (or *gulp* the opposite)

Murphy said he wants to get 3 out of Ashby maybe 4 max

Pitch Ashby through at least Turner twice imo

We'll see if that's a bluff.  I've been operating off the assumption that Ashby would pitch ever game.  If he goes 4 he probably doesn't pitch again until game 4.

I view Miz and Gasser as about the last 2 options that he will use in a close game in the playoffs.

We will see……but this is no time to see if Miz can “ get right” imo

Uh... the Phillies might be screwed.

Replace the Phillies with "the rest of MLB" and you're right if the Dodgers keep getting this kind of pitching and the top of their order is rolling.

Nothing would be sweeter than knocking the Dodgers off in the NLCS....but that is for another week to worry about how the hell that could happen.  I know the Brewers swept them in the regular season - but thats a different team with Betts hitting.  And Ohtani/snell/Yamamoto + a healthy bullpen

Yeah the Dodgers look good. Phillies had a chance to take them in game 1 and blew it. Looks like they're toast tonight. Fans booing, lol. Typical Philly.

Freeman was in a horrible slump too and Muncy was injured.

As they say it’s not always who you play but when you play them.

The July games between the Brewers and Dodgers would have about as much predictive value for a postseason series as the Yankees massacre over the Brewers the first weekend.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

It's definitely confirmation bias, but I didn't like the idea of leaving Luzardo in there again for the 7th. Just trust your pen, man. Another trip through that lineup is begging to get beat up.

This is a classic example of how a 3 run deficit for your favorite team looks much more insurmountable than a 3 run lead for  favorite team.

if I were a Phillies fan coming into this inning I would have been resigned to defeat but if I were a Dodgers fan I would have been a nervous wreck.

Now we have a ballgame.
