Freddy is gonna get a haul.

Is Brice Eldridge for Peralta enough.   We’d get the power bat we struggle to develop recently.   Maybe we add to the deal to get Whisenhunt too?

Seriously?  Peralta -- a top-10 SP in all of MLB last year and his crazy-good contract in his prime -- for two high-end prospects would need a sweetener from the Brewers' end?  If I'm Matt Arnold, I'd demand at least that much & maybe more for Freddy alone.

Kristian campbell would be cool 💀😂

You aren't getting Eldridge for one year of Peralta.

My gauge on prospect and star trade value is usually off, but my first thought was Eldridge would be selling low. DH only, long levers, almost no history of prospects with his profile succeeding.

Get arms for Freddy..

If we trade Freddy, I think people are going to be surprised by an outfielder being a major piece of the return.

Maybe, but I doubt it. At least one of the Brewers top two prospects will be an OF, and possibly both.

Casas/Connelly Early

I think Freddy would bring a lot more than a platoon 1B and a relief pitcher.  No way I'd make the deal with the Yankees. Neither guy is even close to being of any help in 2026.

If Peralta is not dealt, the above would probably be the reason why.

What I mean is, like with Adames in ‘24, the  one year of control remaining for Peralta is most likely more valuable to the Brewers than for any team trying to trade for him.

Also different from Corbin Burnes in ‘23 where he was set to earn 15 million dollars and  the Brewers were likely more motivated to move him for cost savings as well as talent replenishment.

Unless there’s a contending team without a true top of the rotation starter (like Baltimore in ‘23),  there’s probably a lack of teams willing to trade blue chip major league ready players for a season of qualitiy starting pitching depth.

This is more of a hypothetical because it wont happen but would you trade 1 year of Freddy for 1 year of Nico Hoerner?

I think Hoerner would be a perfect Brewers style player and if you are in the move Turang to SS camp a perfect add.  I would say that because pitching is more valuable we would get a small 2nd piece. I do think that with the pitching depth there could be upside to this move but probably would decline.

I'm beginning to wonder if they need a 3rd team.

Brewers get an experienced MLB player (kind of like acquiring Cortes last year). Contending trade partner gets Freddy. A THIRD team gets prospects from both.

I could see this happening with a guy like Neto, or some other good player on a non-contender.

Obviously, there could/would be other players involved that could be important factors. Thats where giving up Freddy AND Megill could net a much more significant return in terms of quality.

I agree on the 3rd team idea, we likely want a cheap controllable productive mlb contributor and I doubt a contender will give that up only wanting to send out prospects.

1) Freddy and Megill to Balt., Rays get Adley Rutchman (baltimore pitching prospect(s) depending on value?), we get Drew Rasmussen and Edwin Uceta

Balt. gets big time pitching and have Basallo at C, rays get a desperately needed catcher and we get better control on guys who can be as good as the guys going out. I admitted don't know Rutschman's value so maybe take Uceta off and put the Baltimore prospects to us if it is lower than I think.

2) Freddy to Boston, Miami gets Triston Casas, Connelly Early and we get Edward Cabrera

Miami gets a 1st baseman and a pitcher to relace Cabrera we get 2 extra years high end pitching

3)Freddy to Detriot, Josue Briceno and Jaden Hamm (maybe 3rd det prospect) to Minny, we get Buxton

This doesn't help financially but Buxton for Freddy would be solid in my opinion.

4)Freddy to Houston, Ulolla, Melton, 3rd prospect to Cleveland, we get Steven Kwan

1 year of Freddy for 2 of Kwan would be a solid return.

5)Freddy to NYM, Sproat, Acuna, 3rd mets prospect, and Kuehner to Washington, we get CJ Abrams

Again good return on 1 year of Freddt, Nats get 4 prospects for Abrams and Mets don't give up top prospects.

6)Freddy to Atl., Royals get Michael Harris, Joey Ortiz, and Blake Perkins, we get Maikel Franco

The Royals get 3 contributors to fill in much needed wholes and we get a big time MI who can move around when prospects come up and hold his own at SS.

Nope, not within the division.

Plus, it would suck to face Freddy 3 or 4 times in 2026.  He'd probably no-hit us because.....baseball.

I was saying hypothetically, I get that wont happen in division but from a value/stand point of getting a player like Hoener back would that be a solid enough return.

With the trade of Collins I think sending Freddy out for an OF makes more and more sense. Most of the teams that would be interested have a young controllable OF that would make sense as a target for the OF (maybe not CF).

Connelly Early isn't a RP

Casas isn't a Platoon - Guy was considered a top 5/7 1b after the 2024 season - Injury hurt his value - Perfect buy low guy

If you just look at the Burnes trade for a sec

Casas > Ortiz

Early > Hall

Have BOS give us a Comp pick

I'm not sure the Brewers front office would have the same evaluation.

Joey had a full complement of service time remaining when we acquired him, Casas has already burned three years.

No doubt Casas is a superior hitter with a 119 wRC+ over 952 career PA, but he's also one of the slowest guys in MLB (-5.7 BSR with 2nd percentile sprint speed), and also a hack at 1B with -11 DRS and -11 FRV for his career.

All told Oritz has put up 4.5 WAR over 1,017 PA in two seasons with the Brewers versus Casas totaling 2.2 WAR over 952 PA in his three plus seasons with Boston.

Yankees open to trading Jazz Chisholm - Who will become an UFA in 2027.

Jazz for Freddy straight up?

Oh man, I really can't stand watching Chisholm play.  Just can't stand players like him, and would find it difficult to root for him.  I probably said the same thing about T-Plush when we got him, so I guess I could get over it. 😁

Not relevant to this discussion, but I was at the Red Sox/Twins game in Boston, sitting first baseline when Casas got injured rolling over the bag. Would only feel right for his last game he played for me to be at and his next game he played to be in a Brewers jersey 😄

While I realize that Nick Kurtz might be untouchable, what do you think about a trade with the Athletics?

Brewers get Kurtz and a strong AA or higher pitcher. Athletics get Peralta, Megill and a top prospect not named Made. The Athletics are weak in pitching, and that could be the tipping point.

Could the A's be a surprise option for Freddy? They have clearly made an effort to add and need some pitching and have young OF talent that would be interesting. I would think they would go after someone like Cabrera, Alcantara, or Ryan who have multiple years but a cheap Freddy could make sense. They have Colby Thomas, Denzel Clarke, and Henry Bolte (AAA) as OF options. They have said no to there younger core (Soderstrom, Wilson, Kurtz, Butler, Rooker).

Clarke would have my vote even if the bat isn't there the Lorenzo Cain vibes are nice. Clarke, and 2 top 15ish A's prospects (I personally love Shotaro Morii but I doubt the A's would include him) would be ok with me.
