I understand you posted this 7 weeks ago but Devin Williams is shot as far as I'm concerned. His #'s in July are simply horrific.

Kind of crazy to think that Sterns has been so negatively impacted by one player over the past 5 years between the wall punch prior to the playoffs and then giving him way too much money.

We certainly could have used Durbin this season...

Durbin has an OPS+ of 94 on the season.

Where would we be without the return we got from this trade?

The Brewers are certainly much better off with this trade than if they hadn't made it.

WAR from this trade so far

Brewers - 3.9 fWAR, 4.6 bWAR

Red Sox - 1.3 fWAR, 3.1 bWAR

It's not a fun thought thinking about where our pitching staff would be this year if we didn't have Harrison and Drohan

Durbin has a really rough start, but has been on absolute fire the past 6 weeks.

i’m really happy with this trade from the Brewers perspective, but still a chance that the best player traded was Durbin

I don't know how anyone can't be happy with what the Brewers received in this deal, other than just simply wanting to be contrarian.

Yeah, given how our pitching was decimated by injuries, Harrison and Drohan have been a godsend.   Hamilton is probably JAG, but seems like a good dude.

this trade might end up as a win-win

Did I say I wasn't happy?   It was a great trade for us.

I stated a fact, we could have used him...  He's been on a bit of a heater for a little while now.

No need to use fancy words like contrarian when not necessary.

Again, it was a great trade, just stating a fact, we could have used him this season at our black hole position.

Hey, give him credit. He avoided 'cromulent'.

Yes, if we could've made the same trade except given them Freddy Zamora instead of Caleb Durbin that would've been great.

We got two starting pitchers with a 3.20 ERA or better. Durbin has a .694 OPS and is entering his prime. I just don’t see it.

Will admit I didn’t think his defense would hold up because of his arm, but he’s killing it on that side of the ball.

Im happy that the Red Sox are finding some success with these guys. Salvaged what seemed like a steal and becomes closer to win-win. We want teams to trade with us.

Maybe we were a year early, but the Brewers have 5 top 100-ish prospects and Pratt/Made/Fischer/Adams/Williams in the upper minors covering SS/3B and 6/7/8 behind them with Pena/Ebel/Ebel. So, we were stacked and the waves of bats have begun.

It's time to start taking Adams out of the 3B equation...  He's not playing there anymore.

Could just be Jett's recent injury (or maybe teams interested in trading for Luke at the deadline want to see what he looks like there) but Adams has started his last four games at 3B in Nashville.

Before that he was at 1B (x13) 3B (x10) DH (x8) since returning from injury on 05/26.

And the hit rate on top 100 prospects is what?  30% ?

as we’ve been this year, 750+ OPS players that are plus defenders don’t grow on trees.   I’m extremely excited about our pipeline of young players but as the 2019 draft recap shows, none of them could end up being MLB regulars.

given the choice of Durbin or Harrison/Drohan, we clearly would take the later, but if we could get Durbin back for a lottery ticket A level player (I know we can’t), he’s easily be the starting 3B in this team.

Given the way Ortiz has been playing lately I'm not so sure it would be an easy call. We'd definitely make that trade if all it costs us was a lottery ticket. We'd also make the trade for Skubal if that's all it costs us. Both are about as realistic.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
