Bill has challenged and has won the most challenges behind the plate and 2nd place isn't particularly close in either category. % wise not so much ... but volume is all Contreras.

2026 MLB ABS challenge system tracker: Team, player rankings - ESPN

Also, Sanchez being 8 for 20 at the plate challenging is hysterical.

I wonder if Angel Hernandez was still around what kind of earth shattering numbers he would be putting up with the challenge system...

The Brewers challenge less often when hitting than any other team.  I guess they haven't heard yelling from our household:  TAP YOUR HELMET!!!

I don't really like how the Brewers have handled the challenge system but according to the team summary leaderboard on savant the Brewers are 5th in runs gained vs expected from challenging so their plan at least seems to be working.

Oh my gosh Freddy got pummeled. His era is in the upper 4s now. New York media has already been hard on him this year.. They are going to throw him under the bus this week.

Anyone else think this is a very generous triple ruling for Harper to get his cycle?

I don't know the exact rule in what constitutes a triple in that situation (how far you round second) but if the idiot shortstop throws to third instead of home with a ten run deficit, they got Harper dead to rights. The throw home is the bigger question. He had no shot throwing him out at home. If it's a tie game, no way Harper tries for three.

I wonder how it affects his next contract.

Probably not much. This is what happens when you bill someone as an ace when in reality he's a #3 or low end #2. I don't know why it was so hard for some people here to admit that.

Peralta is coming off three consecutive seasons of 200 strikeouts. Only Dylan Cease has more strikeouts than Peralta since 2023. Cease is probably a good comp for Peralta and he got $210 million. I doubt Freddy comes close to that number, though.

Interestingly,  the immediate impact of the Peralta trade for both clubs is negligible. Myers and Sproat have negative WARs, Peralta is 0.1 and Williams has yet to play in the majors.

5 years is a long time, but anyone would be hard pressed to say the arrow is pointing up on either Sproat or Williams right now too.

Correct ruling IMO.

Harper had no plans to stop at 2nd even if he was out by a mile. He was going full speed and not even looking at the cutoff man.
