I have no idea who's starting for the Crew tonight. I fear the Chaddy P bandwagon is growing thinner.

I assume we are slow playing our Aaron Ashby opener card. 🙂

I don't know, if they are trying to pad his wins being an opener isn't going to do it.

Hoping Patrick gets the start or at least the bulk of the innings after an opener. Keep him stretched out as they may have to do some load managment on other starting pitching during the season but Patrick shouldn't have any inning limitations.

So there are 365 days in a year and over the last two plus seasons Pat Murphy has now managed 365 games.

The Brewers have scored the fourth most runs in MLB (1,792) over the last two plus years while allowing thee fewest runs in MLB (1,424) for a +368 run differential over that span.

The 2017 (+35), 2018 (+95), 2019 (+3), 2021 (+115), 2022 (+37) and 2023 (+81) teams combined for a +366 run differential over 973 games.

Just imagine how even better those numbers would be if he knew what he was doing.

Actually, he does do some dumb things, and even though this is in blue, just imagine how even better those numbers would be if he just made better in-game decisions during those times he does the really dumb things...

Just imagine how much better they would be if the pitchers never made bad pitches, the hitters never failed to bring in a runner from third with less than 2 outs, and the fielders never made an error.

All managers do really dumb things.

That the Brewers have the 2nd highest winning percentage in MLB since Murphy took over is probably a pretty good sign that he does really dumb things with less frequency than other MLB skippers.

I wonder if the Brewers are planning to have Misioroski pitch Tuesday against the Cubs (assuming he is ready) with Harrison following on Wednesday, each with an extra day of rest.

No Yelich again tonight.

Looks like one of those “play shorthanded for a few days and then backdate an IL stint” situations.

Yep. Hopefully not but it certainly feels that way.  Hopefully next time they have do a rehab assignment before the activate him.  Doesn't have to be long.  Just a couple of games so they know it's far enough along that he can play more than one game without injuring it again.

I think, if the internet existed in 1927, you'd have had Yankee fans complaining on message boards about all the dumb things Miller Huggins did.

I still subscribe to the once popular outlook that the actual impact of managers is limited.  I also agree with "all managers do really dumb things".  What he does appear to be quite good at is running a clubhouse that is supportive, isn't toxic and stay out of the way of the guys who develop and scheme to get the most out of the pitching staff.  That combined with the resourceful front office results in some players, who otherwise have been overlooked, to find themselves in their best position to have success.  That makes Murphy a pretty good manager, in game errors and all.

And some of that would be related to baseball.
