I've been meaning to set up this poll for awhile. Which team do you dislike the most in the NL Central? Personally, I've never been able to get that worked up about the Cubs, though I cannot stand the Cardinals.

Maybe you can do another poll next week about the NL team you hate the most outside the Central, followed another poll of who do you hate the most in the AL.

Then again, we already know that's the Dodgers and Yankees...

I also have an irrational hate for the Rangers, and any Dallas sports team - that was stoked during my 3 years living there. Any pain and suffering cast upon those fans is delicious.

I absolutely despise the Cubs

The Cardinals are highly annoying but the bitter hatred doesn't run as deep

I don't care about the Reds and Pirates at all

I've never understood the hate aspect of fandom. It all just feels so weird to me to hate teams or fans based on where you were born.

Then you should pat yourself on the back. Good.
It’s a lot tougher for me when other bigger markets look down on you because of size…or that they have the money to spend at their disposal and are snooty about it.

It depends on the why you hate them. I've always hated Cubs fans but not so much the players, whereas it's the exact opposite when it comes to the Cardinals. But nowadays the Cardinals, even with all the grief they've caused the Brewers and Brewer fans over the years, don't have those hateable players like Molina, Pujols and Carpenter anymore (and of course William's brother) and a douche canoe like LaRussa managing them anymore, but Cubs fans will always be ******* so my vote is for the Cubs.

Hmm. Rivalries exist around the world. I would wager that's true in every team sport. It's a basic byproduct of competition. "Hate" is perhaps a strong word, but fans generally have teams they wish to lose more than others.  Don't you?  I have friends and relatives who root for rival teams of mine - I love them, but that doesn't mean I can't also root against their teams. Compartmentalize.

Hate being a strong word is basically entirely my point. I don't understand how fans can feel that passionately about other teams and fanbases. I obviously don't want the Cubs and Cardinals and I don't like them or want them to win but I don't hate them. I also don't just blindly hate all the players on their team.

The Cardinals, and it's not even close.  The Cubs make for a fun rivalry, but I want the Cards to be pounded into submission every game.  The Cards ruined the lone World Series, and they will never be forgiven for that.  Also, I was in Illinois as a Brewers fan when they were in the AL.  So the Chicago team I learned to despise was the White Sox.

I am fascinated about why someone selected Pittsburgh or Cincinnati

It wasn’t me, but having lived or spent time in several markets, I understand how that can engender negativity towards their home teams, especially if said teams meaningfully compete with yours.

In other words, maybe those voters are living in those markets.

That said, I lived in Michigan for a long time and the Lions never surpassed my disdain for the Bears. Yeah, I really don’t understand voting for the Buccos in particular.

I hate Cubs fans. I hate how Brewers fan interact/ respond to Cubs fans. When I visit another ballpark, I'm not looking for a fight. I'm not looking to be a loud mouth, obnoxious jerk.

Hate is a strong word...

I have had very unfavorable interactions with Cubs fans.  I do understand that a handful (or a bus-full) of Cubs fans do not represent the entire fan base... but...

My interactions with Cardinals fans have been positive.  Even when I was sitting next to one who transplanted to Colorado and brought his son for the Brewers / Rockies game.

We have been to games, etc. in Cincinnati when the Brewers were not even playing.  Of course, I had to wear Brewers gear and yell "Brewers" during "root... root... root for the BREWERS" during the 7th inning stretch.

I have never seen a game in Pittsburgh, but have had interactions with Pirates fans at Am Fam -- always positive.

I would like to say that I have seen Brewers fans be complete jack wagons in other parks.  Maybe it takes two to tango with the Cubs fans.  Then again, I'll avoid them when I can.  😉

It used to be the Cards.  Two things have changed for me, however....

First, when CC went to to Chicago, I saw that as a betrayal.  Yes, its a business...and yes, he got paid a boat load of money.  But he could have gone anywhere else and the whole Brewer fan base would have wished him well and even rooted for him.  He chose to go to our biggest/closest rival.  He showed a complete disregard for the support and even affection he'd received over the years.  That might sound a little soppy, but those fans are what keeps clubs going during the bad times.  I really dislike that the local boy valued us not at all.  So...while I used to enjoy the rivalry and thought it was kind of fun, now I root against the Cubs every day.  (the whole "Wrigley North" thing also factors in ;) )

Second, we recently went to St. Louis for the series back in May.  Fabulous experience.  Really.  Great people, good stadium tour, and we really enjoyed the baseball museum. The Arch is less than a 10 min walk from the stadium.  The Amtrak/ Metro station is right there too.   Baseball Village is really cool.  So...while I'm NOT over '82, I do have an appreciation for their fans and the entire "baseball experience" in St. Louis.

When you talk about "hate" and sports, I really don't think its meant in the conventional sense.  Strongly root against??  ;)

In order it’s Cubs, Bears, and then other big markets like Cowboys, Dodgers, Yankees……..

So looks like I’m rooting for the Indiana Bears to beat the Cubs in ping pong.

Also, Chicago is such a dumpster fire, even the Bears want OUT..just classic.

I've hated the Cubs since 1984.  My Dad jumped on the Cubs bandwagon that year.  I never rooted for another team as much as I rooted for the San Diego Padres in the NLCS that year.

I was at a graduation party yesterday and the guest of honor had a "W" flag on display near his picture boards and I told him it was a shame that he wouldn't be able to fly it very much.  He had a couple of Cubs hats in his memorabilia display next to his high school baseball hats and I turned the Cubs hats over when I went through the line.
