It’s pretty clear MIL doesn’t see him as part of the future. He’s getting passed up by other prospects, doesn’t seem to have much trade value. Then I remember Isaac Collins, an older rookie who had a nice year in ‘25. Just wonder where he stands. Feels like it’s slipping away for him.

.788 hitter in AAA in over 1000 PAs as a 1B, LF.

Doesn’t seemingly have the bat to play 1B/LF in the majors, and doesn’t seemingly have the defensive skills to play 2B/3B in the majors.

He still has a path to the MLB roster this year (maybe?) but it involves a Jake Bauers injury (knock on wood).

As soon as next year though Burke probably takes that spot from him?

I could see Tyler Black being one of those guys who ends up in Miami and gives them a few years of .245/.320/.370 non pressure production.

I was a big believer in Tyler Black for years, and while I haven't given up completely it doesn't look good. Now that he's also not hitting in AAA, it's not even really a case of not getting the opportunity to prove himself. There just isn't reason enough to try him, absent injuries. I think if he had managed to stick at one of the more premium positions he tried (2B/3B/CF), or even if he excelled at the lesser ones (LF/1B) he'd have gotten more playing time. But it's hard to roster and find playing time for a 1B/LF/DH with subpar defense and whose game isn't based on power.

I think as per the last poster, he could end up a fringe MLB player who will stick around in some fashion. Like, speaking of the Marlins,  a Garrett Cooper perhaps; although he had a surprisingly decent 107 wRC+.

I do not ever see him being a starting, everyday player.  If he was playing everyday his avg would plummet to about .225 with no power what so ever JMHO.  But he is a good enough backup.

He's the definition of a "change of scenery" guy.  I hope he gets a chance somewhere in MLB.  Unfortunately he no longer has any trade value so at best we could get a lottery ticket.  He's dangerously close to DFA candidate right now.

Give him a merciful DFA. He could  rebound someday, somewhere, but this is the best option for him.

Man, I hate to agree with you on this, but he's never going to get the chance here.

Cut him loose, see what he can do with another organization, and be done with it.

If he isn't included in a trade at the deadline, it just has to be done.

He should be viewed as trade package fodder at this year's deadline.  They will need his 40 man spot next year, if not sooner, anyway for more highly regarded prospects on their way up

I doubt a rebuilding team would have much interest in trading for Tyler Black, when, as you point out, he’s likely to be DFA’d in the next six months.

Of course it hasn’t shut. He has some solid offensive skills (on-base, speed), a tad bit of defensive versatility, and oodles of big league control remaining. Nice depth piece who could post-hype breakout with a few solid seasons as a UT/PH/PR type.

He mostly plays LF with a little 1B mixed in that’s not really a utility player. It’s his 6th professional season after college and because  they gave guys like Matos, Jones, Perkins at bats over Black, tells you what his standing in the organization in 2026 is.

Yeah I considered all of that but then I remembered they had no problem going to Black when Vaughn and Chourio were injured and he is hitting in the heart of the Sounds lineup every night. That tells me they view him as big league depth.

For now even with his poor AAA numbers he would still be called up if Yelich or Bauers got hurt but that’s pretty much it. Did well in his sample size earlier this season idc if people want to complain about “lucky hits.” I’m pretty confident he won’t be on the 40 man past this season even if Bauers leaves in free agency. But maybe he is the left handed platoon 1B next year until they decide Burke or Fischer is ready to be called up. We’ll see. Either way he has not seen his last MLB ABs I’d say.

The Brewers gave a journeyman 30 year old the strong side platoon this past season and they need somebody next season so wouldn't count out Black yet.

12 for 63 in the month of June in Nashville for Black.  He is on the struggle bus right now.  Also, the 30 year old I believe your referring to was released when we brought up Cooper Pratt.

But he’s produced the least OPS among Nashville’s regulars.

5 years since being drafted out of college and he’s in AAA for the third year in a row. Anything is possible, but it sure looks like Black an organization soldier at this point.

What Black needs to do to earn a legitimate shot, would be a great question for the front office though.

That is exactly why he needs to be traded, so he gets another shot.

Sure but if you were GM of a team would you trade for him now knowing there’s a good chance he’s DFA’d and you could acquire him for nothing this winter?

Winter is a long ways away, Black may be wanted before then by someone.

I overlooked the likelihood of Bauers leaving. He possibly could be next year’s Rengifo - a temporary piece until they bring up one of those two.

Yea depends if they value the cheap contract Black would have vs bringing in a pricier vet on a 1 year stopgap deal, assuming Bauers does leave. Also the downgrade in power from Bauers to Black would be substantial. Idk what Bauers would be offered in FA but it always depends how the rest of his season goes. Could the Brewers get him back cheap on like 2 years $12 mil? Or would someone offer him something like 4 years $50 mil based on a potential 1 year fluke season sample size? Too early to guess. I’m sure the Brewers would love him back for the right price.
