There were plenty of rumblings and grumblings around each of Brandon Woodruff's last two contracts totaling $37.525M for the 2024 through 2026 seasons.

He has now made an nice even twenty starts making him one of 165 starting pitchers with at least 100 IP over the last two years. Some of his results and rankings on that leaderboard...

106.1 IP (161st) | 68 WHIP+ (1st) | 139 FB+ (1st) | 75 AVG+ (3rd) | 210 K/BB+ (3rd) | 136 K+ (11th) | 64 BB+ (18th) | 71 ERA- (18th) | 75 FIP- (21st) | 95 HR+ (67th) | 92.6 MPH average fastball (125th)

As far as things like "luck" go, Woodruff's 86 xFIP- (34th) thinks that his literal sky high 53.0% fly ball rate should be yielding more than his current 9.3% HR/FB ratio (20th). On the other hand, all the lasers and stuff over at StatCast think that Woodruff should have an expected ERA of 2.44 which is thee best in all of MLB last two years ahead of Misio (2.52), Shohei (2.63), Wheeler (2.64), Skenes (2.69), Skubal (2.84), and every other SP with at least 100 IP.

The Brewers have gone 15 W - 5 L for an easy to compute .750 W% in his twenty starts.

Has Woodruff done enough to earn his paycheck, or much like the Brewers as a whole is that wholly dependent on whatever happens or doesn't in October?

The problem people have with woodruff is if he’s actually going to pitch.     If he gets hurt in the third inning today for the millionth time, who cares about his stats for a couple of games

he needs to pitch the rest of the season and the playoffs.     His last two starts were way above what I expected.    Just keep showing up to the mound for the rest of the year

Woodruff doesn't need to play the rest of the season, needs to be effective in the playoffs. Nice that he is effective now but doesn't matter if not pitching in October

in the couple years prior to Woodruff's injury, he was a 4 WAR pitcher who could pitch 160 innings. over the past 3+ years, he's average just over 1 WAR and maybe 60 innings. Thats proven a very expensive lottery ticket. Not saying the initial deal wasnt reasonable, but cant argue its paid off in any way.

For eleventy billion dollars he can help us get there though.   I don’t think that’s asking too much.    Same for freaking Yelich

Fun game last night. Some fans turned it off and a losing streak was predicted. Too many black holes in the lineup and a bad manager. Can’t believe the Crew have this record. Almost like they are a really good.

I'll piggyback off this by mentioning Ortiz. In the 9th inning last night, it was obvious Megill was being timed up & hit pretty hard. Reconstruct the inning (admittedly not scientific), and if Ortiz doesn't rob a base hit with the full-out lunge to his left the following base hit puts two runners on w/one out. Unless Perdomo hits into a DP--something he's done only twice since May 1st--You're facing Corbin Carroll with the game on the line. You might not ever get to the 10th.

This isn't an attempt to defend Ortiz' offense; it's been bad. It's to try to show that defensively he's been more than just a 'nice defender, but...........'. He's flat out won games with his glove. He may have done it again last night. Should they look into trying to upgrade the position? I question if there are a lot of opportunities to do so but sure, look into it. In the meantime, he's won games for them defensively, at not one but two positions. That shouldn't be ignored

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Brewers are tied for 1st in FRV since Pratt was called up. Our defense has been a bit of a rough spot this year compared to previous years but that seems to be turning. Pratt has been good at SS and shifting the Ortiz/Hamilton platoon to 3B has been a big boon for the 3B defense. Also helps that guys like Frelick and Mitchell seem to be settling in defensively after poor starts to the year.

To be fair, not all functioning adults with jobs and children have the luxury of staying up until 1 am.

What a stupid post. One person made the comment.

The game was on Apple TV, makes sense not as many people commented. For someone who has 101 in their name, you sure don't seem to understand the point of an IN-GAME THREAD.

If you don't like the material, don't open the thread. Stop whining about the content.

Should I apologize for turning it off and going to bed at 10:45 PM with a tie game that might be going on for quite awhile longer? I’m guessing that game went past midnight our time.

Reviewing the thread I only saw one person predicting a losing streak.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
