Very interesting news, with Fan Duel Network going bankrupt, the bucks are putting all games on free over the air TV rather than what the brewers did.

https://www.nba.com/bucks/news/milwaukee-bucks-to-return-to-full-season-over-the-air-television-for-first-time-in-31-years

My guess is that NBA didn't have the infrastructure in place to make it easy for NBA teams to create their own app / network. This was probably the best the bucks could do. When the Brewers decided to do it, many teams already did, so there was a roadmap.

Nobody would pay for a service to watch the Bucks next season. And I don't even think they're going to be that bad, but there would be no way to market that this offseason given what's happened.

This is a very smart thing for them to do.

Brayden Burries is very good. Ament is, predictably, nowhere close to ready.

Sigh.

I so believe passing on Steinbach will prove to be an obvious mistake.

Hope I'm wrong. Also:

I agree on Steinbach but I think they really like Ament and was going to probably take him at 10 if Burries didn’t fall.

Oh totally. I mean he was seen as a Value pick and he has had moments. I just thought Steinbach was a plug and play solid rotational Big and Ament was a Big Boom/Bust swing and we tend to overextend for those and our track record hasn't been all that good. It's obviously One game but, man, you could pretty much see he is nowhere close to a rotational player. It stood out.

Hopefully the growth and improvements are rapid!😅

To be fair post Giannis trade with the franchise in a rebuild it probably makes more sense taking the big boom/bust swing than the plug and play guy.

Yeah. I should also slow my roll on my reacting to 17 minutes BUT I have a hard time getting past the Marjon/Joe Alexander/Haislip/Vaughn/DJ Wilson/Thon/AJ Johnson/Tyler Smith (good god the drafting has been SO bad for so long). Lots of swings and misses there. Bucks could have had Sabonis - another double double merchant. Steinbach just seemed like a decade of double doubles and he's only 20.

This all being said, Ament needs to keep getting stronger (he may still be growing). As I said previously, he actually has a pretty good handle for his size. That's a plus. Because of his lack of explosiveness off the dribble, tho, if he's going to be any kind of NBA player he absolutely needs to develop the 3 pt shot and an ability to shoot over people. Those are unknowns at present. Long way to go. We'll just have to wait and see.

Honestly, the most disappointing Buck today was probably Kasparas. Hopefully that was just jet legs. He didn't show all that much beyond getting into the lane without a plan and an inability to create for himself.

No Team Option. No Player Option. Just 4 GUARANTEED years of paying GTJ $16 Milly a year. The Bucks FO will always revert to being Amateur Hour. Without fail. What a disgusting bit of business.

I think we had to do this to live up to an illegal, under the table, wink wink deal last year.  Unfortunately he did not even play up to those standards.  Last year/the last few years were a disaster.  Fortunately (hopefully) it will be a distant memory in 4 years.

Haha, was ready to give Horst a clean slate and see if Jenkins could whip up a fun 45 win team this season, but dang if this ain't some Same Old Bucks.

That's what you get for being dumb enough to undertake shady dealings with Klutch over GTJ of all players...and, why? Because he went off for two playoff games against the Pacers?

Guess if the return favor from Klutch is a sign and trade for Peyton Watson with maybe something like Kuzma & AJ Green going back I'll consider re-considering.

I think it's pretty clear the Bucks had some sort of handshake agreement with GTJ last offseason and didn't want to tear up that agreement with one of the most powerful agents in the NBA. It's the only sensible explanation for GTJ getting that contract after the year he just had.

This makes no sense, The bucks have 28 million to stay under the first apron and now 16 million are gone for a bench guy. The fact that there is no way to get out of this early is disgusting. They were having such a fine offseason too before this.

that would be the only explanation that makes sense. They knew that Giannis was being traded and they would have some room under the 1st apron if he signed on the cheap

This is the worst signing in the history of the team. Horst needs to go now, Trent was trash last year and we have like 6 guards. Either Trent takes up valuable minutes from the young guys or he sits. If we needed to overspend we could have sign any big guy.

Awful, Awful, Awful

I was excited for a new beginning and this move has completely undone all of it.

I have never been convinced quicker that someone stinks on ice like Ament. I am still rooting for him but he is just timid, weak on contact and not all that great of an athlete. Which with how raw he is.... Terrible combo. A poor man's Kuzma. *sigh

Burries seems pretty good

it was very bad, but again I think they made a wink wink deal with Rich Paul to appease Giannis last offseason. He is not one that you want to not make good on your promises.

It's bad but I can't figure out why anyone really cares. They will probably force him into the lineup to show the league he isn't as bad as last year, and if is, they'll taper minutes off. They aren't competing legitimately anyway. If he can show any value, he becomes a trade candidate, but it was clearly a handshake deal with a powerful agency.

I'm honestly more interested in next season than I have been in some time. Haven't considered them real contenders for years, just NBA purgatory. I'll probably watch 75% of the games now that they're free.

"Bucks fans wear Cups to stay safe in the off-season." Thankfully, Burries looks like a top 5 player from this draft. I told y'all how much he impressed me throughout his Freshman season when I watched Arizona play PST. Well, he's even better than I thought. Just going to hang my hat there while protecting my nether regions...

I have heard the wink wink deal with Trent/Paul. That doesn't make it any better, it not as bad as the Kawhi stuff but for me it's close. I get not going back on a deal but this is one we should have told Trent and Paul no thank you.
