Infield woahs solved!

Start the Shewmake era right away - starting at 3B today!

The Cobbler: .256/.695

Joey O: .225/.598

An upgrade at the plate, but will he save runs?

Career .192 AVG, 39 WRC+ and a 1.9% walk rate is an upgrade?

An upgrade over Greg Jones but that's about it.

Options remaining?

Whether he does or not, it sounds like a DFA candidate when Hamilton returns.

I suspect that the main reason for picking him up was to have someone who might be a little better defensively and little more versatile than Jones  in addition to being left-handed

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Not much of a pickup, but Shewmake is better than playing Jones. He goes to Nashville (not sure about options or if they have to waiver him) when Hamilton is ready. Woody goes on the 60 day IL. He's done for the year and this may be it for his career. You have to feel bad for Big Woo.

This does give me a little pause about Hamilton's injury. Would the Brewers really make a trade for someone to get two at bats against Skenes and then cut him loose when Hamilton is eligible to come off the IL before next weekend?

It's cash deal soooo, perhaps. He may also get stashed in Nashville when Hamilton returns. They might be looking at it as a policy to guard against Hamilton maybe needing an extra week or whatever. Like others have said he's better than running Jones out there.

For sure, and that's more so what I meant. If Hamilton is going to need extra time grabbing a guy makes sense. If this was just going to be a one game situation that I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Skenes has not been that dominating lately. But against a tired Brewers team just anxious to get to the break it looks like he might pitch a complete game shutout with maybe a hit or two.
