I think McCullers is also available, and was a little surprised they didn’t try him with a 5-run lead yesterday. It’ll be interesting to see who trots out to the mound if there’s a save situation in the 9th today…

Pretty incredible work to be short handed in the bullpen going into the third game after a 4 day break.

It does feel like down 2-0 after three innings has been the routine. 

You could probably parlay the Brewers opponent to have the lead after the first third and the Brewers moneyline into some financial Independence these days..

During innings one through five the Brewers have scored 261 runs (9th) and allowed 194 runs (2nd) for a +67 differential.

During innings six onward the Brewers have scored 238 runs (1st) and allowed 176 runs (9th) for a +62 run differential.

Pretty even up overall, guess it just depends on if you prefer run scoring or run prevention.

The Cubs are currently fifth in MLB with a +53 run differential for all of their innings.

Yeah I'm usually not one to complain about lineups but was Murphy drunk when he put today's lineup together? Lara got one whole start post-Frelick injury before hitting the bench.

I like getting Shewmake in.  Would like to see a little more of what he has.  

I do not like sitting Lara.  He needs to play.  Give Yelich or Bauers the day off.

The Brewers being 9-6 in July with a +2 run differential and the opponent scoring first in 11 of 15 games is pretty crazy. I would definitely be down for getting an early lead and having a comfortable win today

At the risk of being accused of being an older poster who doesn’t believe in statistics, I don’t think these numbers are a relevant response to the OP’s comment (which I think was a little tongue in cheek but was addressing a recent tend, not a season long one).

By my count the Brewers opponents have scored first in 13 of the last 17 games, and early 2-0 deficits have been pretty common.

The Brewers are 11 W - 6 L in their last 17 games so their opponent scoring first in 13 of those games hasn't really slowed them down too much. 

During one of the recent Apple TV games they mentioned the Brewers were the only team in MLB with a winning record when their opponent scores first. I thought that was a pretty telling tidbit as to the quality of team we've been witnessing this season.
