Still missing McCullers...

With every Miz start from now to the end of the regular season, it's likely shorter outings and 5 days of rest (at least). He's been like a night off for the bullpen, but I think 6 innings at most the rest of the way, is what the expectation should be,

FWIW: Vaughn is 4-8 in his career against Freddy.

No opinion, just a stat.

Yelich leading off - of course

Lara nowhere to be found.

I'm confused, do we want Vaughn to have more or less playing time? Can't remember what the current state of that is.

Vaughn is in the lineup so people need to find a new person to complain about not being in the lineup.

I'd like to complain about someone BEING in the line-up way too often, and way to high, as in lead-off.

:)

Why has Lara only started 1 of the games since the break?

FanGraphs annual Top 50 Trade Value series kicked off today with each of William Contreras and Kyle Harrison landing in the Honorable Mention section.

No Brewers landed in the #41-50 range also released today which leaves Jesus Made (HM last year), Brice Turang (HM last year), Jacob Misiorowski (#35 last year), and Jackson Chourio (#24 last year) as the four Brewers who will likely land somewhere in the remaining Top 40 spots of this year's edition.

It no longer matters, there is no rhyme or reason as to when he sees the line-up, so it makes no sense to even bother trying to figure it out.  Pat Murphy logic dictates his playing time, so trying to figure it out is futile.  I gave up.

obvious that Murph wants lefties in the lineup as much as possible despite Peralta's career platoon splits being pretty much identical....and he's ok with a weaker OF defense with Miz on the mound likely striking a ton of Mets out.

As for Yelich leading off and DH-ing....I'm not a fan of either, so that means he probably has 3 hits and a bomb tonight.

If Mets fans had their way, Freddy would stay here.

Complaining about platoons/splits is a universal trait of baseball fans. Fans always want to play the hot hand, most teams these days play the numbers. I think Vaughn may have gone cold from lack of play, but there clearly was some injury-related element that may have improved post-ASB.

As for Yelich, I honestly don't care. He has league average wOBA, a .330 OBP, and is a plus baserunner. There are worse options for leadoff hitter.

Why can't Bauers ever have a night off? He hasn’t been raking has he?

He had one bad series. He has a 104 wRC+ in July while under performing his xwOBA by 36 points.

Yelich moved to primary leadoff guy on May 26th, so coming up on two months now. In that time he has batted leadoff in 38 of the team's 48 games.

Since that date Christian is at 198 PA of 231/335/331 (90 wRC+) with a 12.1 BB% and 28.8 K%. His actual .303 wOBA is a perfect match for his .303 xwOBA so StatCast thinks he is getting just what he deserves.

The somewhat good news is that he has at least sequenced his few positive outcomes well notching +0.32 Win Probability Added over this recent leadoff stretch with 57 PA of 128 wRC+ with RISP versus 116 PA of 84 wRC+ with the bases empty.

The even better news is that even with Christian putting up a below average batting line while serving as the primary leadoff hitter since May 26th (& getting the 3rd most PA on the team since that date) the offense as a whole has hit for a 112 wRC+ (7th) while scoring 5.23 R/G (5th) over that stretch en route to an MLB best 31 W - 17 L record (.646 W%) over those 48 games (though only 24 W - 14 L for a .632 W% in the 38 games Yelich batted lead off).

Before Yelich moved to primary leadoff the Brewers were 31 W - 20 L for a .608 W%.
