Many reports say the team will be aggressive this deadline so I will take them for their word. This thread is to put your deadline trade ideas out there with returns. One rule, if you say a suggested trade is too much or not enough from another poster, suggest specific players for the trade instead of what was suggested. It is too easy otherwise.

Trade 1:

Luke Weaver (BTV: 2.5-4) for Blake Burke (BTV: 3.5-5) and Brailyn Antunez (BTV: .5-1)

Weaver has been a great reliever for a few years and he is pricey but not outrageous. Burke could be moved to AAA shortly and maybe he even be ready in 2027. Antunez is a toolsy outfielder that is having a nice season. The Mets have said they aren't going to be paying down salaries on trades so I wouldn't expect a monster haul for Weaver. The Mets getting two good players for Weaver seems about right.

Trade 2:

Joe Ryan (BTV: 28-35) for Brandon Sproat (BTV: 25-32) , Braylon Payne (BTV: 12-16) and Marco Dinges (BTV: 1.5-3)

The Brewers could use a veteran starter that would be an option to start a playoff game. I think Woodruff was going to be that guy but obviously he is not available anymore. Ryan is a great pitcher that would fit the bill. He also is not a rental so I am willing to offer a big package. Sproat is a cost controlled pitcher that would go right into Minnesota's rotation with a lot of control. You can kind of tell that Murphy isn't a huge BS fan and usually those players get sent out. Payne is a lot more boom or bust in my opinion. I know the tools are very loud but I am not a huge fan of his swing and offensive profile. I like other outfielders more (Adamczewski, Ragsdale, and Frias) We also have two outfielders locked up for a long time. Marco is a guy that needs to be a catcher to have value for the Brewers. Love his bat and think he could be an MLB player without being a catcher.... on a different team than the Brewers.

Trade 3:

Antonio Senzatela (BTV: 3-5) for Mark Manfredi (BTV: .5-1.5) and Tyler Black (BTV: not putting it, it is way too high)

This is a rental. Neither the Rockies nor any team that acquires him will put up next year's option. Senzatela is a good pitcher that is paid a lot of money. I like the road numbers and think he would be a sneaky good get for the team. Manfredi could go right in their bullpen and be cheap production for years. The Rockies can take a flyer on Tyler Black who may be a nice fit for Coors.

Notes: MA would have to sign off on adding this much payroll. If we are discussing Skubal, he would cost as much as all three of these guys for the rest of the season. I like these ideas because we are focusing on trading players in areas we have tons of depth.

At first blush...

NO to A (I'm probably just partial to those two prospects)

YES to B (I like Ryan and I think that's what it might take to get him).

Neutral to C (I don't trust Rockies, and I trust Brewers' lefty relievers like Manfredi)

I think all these deals are pretty good on value but I think all 3 have issues. I also think that we will see insane prices because I really only think there will be a few sellers.

1) I dont think the org would want a reliever at over 10 million for next year. I would be all for this deal and if I was in charge just retrade him in the offseason. My thought on value is that I would think the Mets get a top 100 prospect for him just based on scarcity.

2) Again I think your proposal is good and I personally would value Payne and Sproat as top 100 prospects. However they arent and I would think another team offers 2  current top 100 prospects. I would think the Twins would want Josh A in this one which I would have a hard time doing.

3) Again I think your true value is correct but I would guess the rockies get 2 top 20 prospects for Senzatela. Manfredi and Black would be help now guys for them but trade wise dont have a ton of value I would guess more like Black/Manfredi and O'Rae.

I would be happy with any of these deals.

How about Pena for Eduardo Quintero.  The Dodgers have a glut of OF prospects and the Brewers have a glut of IF prospects.  Kind of a perfect match here.

2 top 20 prospects for a rental RP not named Miller?

Dude...

I read an article today suggesting LAA was looking for a young catcher. Could we make a deal for Detmers or Soriano centered around Quero? Quero, Jett Willams and Gasser/Sproat for Detmers or Soriano?

Just curious, who would be our catcher in 2028 if we dumped Quero?  We have one more season with Contreras, and probably a 1% chance of resigning him, if we trade Quero, what is our catcher plan for the future?

1 We arent trading with the Dodgers

2 We are plenty stacked in the OF. Chourio/Mitchell/Frelick/Lara/Lockridge have plenty of time remaining. Then we have Adamczewksi/Ragsdale/Payne/Frias on their way.

Last year Kyle Finnegan got 2 prospects the #15 prospect (Josh Randall) and RJ Sales a 22 year old with a 2.71 era and more than 9 ks an inning in A ball.

Finnegan had a 4.38 era when traded. Senzatela is better than that this year and playing for the Rockies could figure in more.

Again there are only going to be a few quality relievers available and like 15 teams that want one. Prices are going to be crazy.

1) Elvis Alvarado for Dylan O'Rae, JD Thompson, and Carlos Rodriguez

We get a high octane reliever that can be tweaked easy and has team control. We give up 2 quality prospects and CarRod to get a chance and provide the 40 man spot. I would anticipate a Megill trade this offseason and Alvarado would be an upside replacement.

2) Casey Mize and SS Angel de los Santos for Jett Williams

Jett is a big price to pay for a rental. We get de los Santos an 18 year old who had a good year in rookie ball to lessen the long term value potentially.

This is our top 30 according to mlb.com

https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/brewers

You are telling me that you'd be willing to give up two of the top 20 players on this list for Senzatela?

Seriously?  Which two?

I think this would be a crazy, irresponsible, whacky, out of control move, and it would never happen.

I agree with this.

I'd be hard-pressed to give up 2 top 30 guys but I ultimately would as long as one of them was Wilken.

I believe i just said 2 top 20 guys, not from our team. I get that our system is way deeper but if someone else offers 2 top 20 guys and our offer is Manfredi and Black we arent getting Sanzatela. My offer as posted before would be O'Rae and Black/Manfredi which I think still might be beat by other teams.

I am not trading Peña to the Dodgers. there is just too much reward for them.

Pena and change at lower levels for Miller.

We have huge relief innings to fill with our starters all being questionable health wise and many just going 5 innings. This move alone would solidify the back of the bullpen and allow Ashby to pitch more innings early and less late for the time being.  I also figure we are picking up a SP at some point anyways....even if it is Quntana. That is coming. And both Gasser and Henderson have vacation homes on the IL. Almost a given that one of those is not finishing the season.

Also, I'm not eager to give up on most of these young starting pitchers of ours, especially if just for a rental. And this  wouldn't be for a rental.  This would be a major get solidifying innings 7-9.

I also doubt we are resigning Megil so we need a closer anyways for 27-28.

Would Luis Severino be an option if the A's eat some of next years money? He is hurt but expected back before the year is out. Arnold likes to take risks on injured pitchers, this would be a risk but he would have next year. His stuff is top notch and he has said how he doesn't like pitching there. I could see a match if the injury is still on track.

The Jays are falling fast, Gausman and Hoffman are 2 other prime targets especially if we are willing to give up mlb ready players and take back some money.

Seattle is opening to trading a starter or 2. I think we are going to need another arm to take up some innings so we don't burnout the kids. Hancock for like Jett and Adams? or one of the Ebel brothers?

I'd steer clear of their SP at this point. I think their numbers are misleading because they play in the most pitcher friendly park in MLB. The home/road splits on Hancock this year are staggering.

Was thinking about Seattle trade ideas. I think Jett for Hancock would be a great trade for us but not sure it does enough for Seattle to agree. Vaughn is a guy i am not looking to trade but I think he is closer to what they want. Would be interesting what that trade could look like.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Hancock is their #5. Gilbert/Woo/Kirby/Miller are all legit.

The main reason I have interest in trading with the Mariners is that they are more likely than others to take major league talent in a return instead of prospects. Unfortunately, they need right-handed bats and are covered at 1B.

George Kirby is the one that would benefit most from our pitching lab IMO. We could take him from good to elite.

If the Mariners are truly sellers, Randy Arozarena would look good in LF...

Woo and Miller have also had massive home/road splits in their career. The K-BB% numbers for Woo, Miller, and Hancock are dramatically better at home than on the road so it's hard to me to believe their overall numbers when we know Seattle is a notoriously pitcher friendly park with a batter's eye that gives hitters tons of issues. Woo and Miller pitch like aces in Seattle but on the road pitch like #5 starters.

Posted

For reference here are their career numbers

Woo home - 2.52 ERA, 3.02 FIP, 3.18 xFIP, 24.3% K-BB

Woo road - 4.31 ERA, 4.00 FIP, 4.10 xFIP, 15.8% K-BB

Miller home - 3.07 ERA, 3.42 FIP, 3.72 xFIP, 20.1% K-BB

Miller road- 4.64 ERA, 4.64 FIP, 4.45 xFIP, 13.4% K-BB

Using 2026 for Hancock because he was bad before this year

Hancock home - 2.93 ERA, 3.21 FIP, 3.02 xFIP, 22.8% K-BB

Hancock road - 3.45 ERA, 4.37 FIP, 4.83 FIP, 10.8% K-BB

I cant see the Ms making sense I dont see who they would want that we would be willing to trade. Sal and a prospect for Hancock would be as close as I could think but with Sal out that doesn't work.
